I'm thinking about tinting the whole windshield. I know of a guy who will use solar guard. I'm wondering what a good % level is for the front winshield and the side windows.

Any ideas. . .

I'm ready for this like soon. . . .

36% will match the rear windows I believe, but that dark of a tint is illegal in my state. I did my windows at 30%, and you can see the difference between them and the rear ones, but it's only really noticeable in direct sunlight.

You really should think twice before doing your windshield, however. I'm not sure how it is in NM, but in Oregon NO tint is allowed on the front windshield. Cops here will let the side windows slide, but they'll pull you over in a heartbeat with a windshield tint. FYI.

I think I paid about $60 to have my passenger and driver door windows done with solar guard.

yeah another New Mexican Taco!! but to answer your questions the legal limit here is 20% and it is ILLEGAL to have any tint on the windshield lower than 6 inch's from the top. I have 5% over the factory tint and i get hassled for it all the time and the cops put on the tint reader and it registers as 3%. I would get 20% stay legal and it will still look good.

I know you can get clear tint (used for business and home, made by 3M) and it protects your interior from all Ultraviolet and reduces heat inside the truck by something like 30-40%. You might try something like that for your windshield. I think I've been quoted like $5/sq yard to have it installed. YOu may be able to get it at HomeDepot...they usually have it near the back of the store, near the laminate flooring spools.

I've got 35 on my windshield. It's SOOOOOO nice having tint on the windshield. I'll never own another vehicle without. I might go with 50 if I were to do it again because 35 is quite noticeable from the outside, especially if your other windows are tinted. Maybe 40 would be about perfect on the front.

Does 35 seem too dark? Maybe 5o would be good? How about the side widows? 35 maybe too? Thanks. . .:smokin:

tinting the windshield looks hella slick. only thing is you're REALLY limiting your visibility. i have 5% all around with 35% on my windshield. never need sunglasses while driving lol, but at night and IF it rains...be careful especially those lanes with faded paint it gets unreal at times. hids will help but idk still really limited. then again u get used to it after a while ;)

I put a tint meter on my rear windows on my double cab, and they register at 27%. The 20% tint I put on the front LOOKS to match perfectly, but the tint meter registers rears at 27% and fronts at 20%, go figure. Just an FYI on the actual tint on the rear windows.

I did 15% (Ceramic tint) on the access doors and rear windows and 50% (Ceramic tint) on the front side windows. 50% on the fronts is the legal limit here in VA. I would not put anything on your front window, if you ever get in an accident (whether your fault or not) you WILL get a ticket from the cop and insurance companies will eat you alive in court saying the tint was a factor causing you to not have a clear field of view of the road. My friend got nailed with a ticket in his car (limo tint on rear and back windows - illegal for cars in VA) when he got rear-ended a few months ago. The accident was not his fault, however the cop gave him a ticket for the tint while investigating the accident.

I think this depends on your area. I posted the Camry pictures above and this car replaced an 07 Corolla with the same tint specifications that was involved in a head on collision (I was victim, not my fault) and the FHP did not ticket for this. FHP is normally the ones who give the tint tickets in my area and he even made the comment, "It's a shame such a nice car to be totalled...it crashed real well," But nothing regarding the tints on the vehicle. My wife's 06 Rav4 is tinted the same way and when she was stopped by a police officer for speeding he commented that the vehicle looked sharp with the tint on it. Dont get me wrong, I been pulled by FHP for nothing other than my tint before and gotten a $60 tint ticket. But that was 6 years ago in a rinky dink town on my way to Tallahassee.

Does the windshield tint go on the outside of the car, or the inside. I'd love to get it done, but if its on the inside, my registration and inspection sticker would be there, and when those get replaced, the inspection places usually use razors to scrape them off.

How much would one expect to shell out for getting the windshield done?

Also, as a side note while I'm posting, how much did any of you pay to get your rear slider done?
