Just got mine on recently! Did it for the "horsepower gain."

Are TRD Banners overrated?

i don't notice too many of this model in my area anymore, are they popular in CA?
is that on the inside or outside of the windshield? i used to have something on the inside of my truck but it kept peeling at the edge

They’re not popping as much compared to back when it was new. I barely got into the 2ZZGE community last January. Been in the 1ZZFE community since 2016. The XRS has more torque and it’s much quicker compared to my daily (1ZZFE). 120 hp vs 180 hp? 180 hp all day! This banner is installed on the front of the windshield, in the back would have been better since sun damage makes it fade and go brown. Your sticker peeled while stuck on the inside of the windshield? Hmm. Noted.

It’s cool. I don’t run any badges personally but yours looks like we’re back in early 2000 as a concept new car to market lol.

This model is not popular at all. XRS is rare and are hard to find. Highly sought after as well. In CA we do have a lot of base model and XR tho.

Hell yeah on the HP++ LOL!
Yeah I don’t like the eBay’s typical TRD badge which I see on many Scion TC(s), Toyota Camry(s), and Lexus (of any model). It’s interesting to see that badge on those cars especially when nothing’s TRD on it minus the sticker or badge itself. 🤣. Like why? HP++ I can agree with no doubt. Most definitely rare! The reason why I chose this color was because it’s only offered in the 2003 Matrix and not 2004-2008. The rarest Matrix XRS out there (if you didn’t know already) is the 2003 XRS with an automatic transmission (some are still out there). How does VVTLi even kick in at that point if you’re not shifting through gears? I also agree that 95% of the Matrix(s) I see in CA are base/XR FWD/AWD. Rarely do I see an XRS, even modified so to speak.

TRD is pretty much exclusive to the trucks now. All if not most TRD trucks have the badge stock.

There’s really no real racing development in the NA market for our little sedans and hatches. I mean look at the TRD package on the Camry. It’s just a appearance package now. Only decent thing they came out with was the supercharger kits but they are long gone. The only badge I’d consider to display is Ultra Racing, TRD hasn’t done me any better so I wouldn’t rep em IMO.

You’re most certainly right about that! The new T4R and Tacos have TRD packages. Moreover it’s plainly just body kits and air filters IMHO.
I’m curious why Toyota never produced a TRD SC for the 2ZZGE XRS even though it was said to be in the making back then.

Yah that’s what it seems to be now. Just an appearance package. They moved on to the GR but seems like NA will only have it as an appearance package and we won’t see the likes of the Yaris GR.

Don’t get me wrong, TRD’s parts are overly priced but they’re discontinued to even look into today. Appearance package for the win!

Wow, you have the rare Desert Sand Mica XRS. I used to peruse Matrixowners.com and Genvibe back in the day because I wanted a Matrix back then (MO is dead now). I also remember those TRD grills too, rare piece nowadays. I do like the style of your TRD chevron banner, though I probably would've gone with a silver background, since that was what TRD Japan was selling back in the day and many older Toyotas would have them.

Just dug up this picture of the first Matrix I saw in person to be lowered...
