Wheel/tire question

I havent seen any threads here showing pictures with wheel and tire combos that work on factory suspension corollas or on a mild drop. My question is (since i cant find much about it) what wheel and tire sizes are available for our cars, including offsets, that fit with no rub whatsoever? And will work if the car is lowered some time after.

See i have a L cvt, and would like 17s (i have 15 steelies) but dont know how wide to go or tire sizes that fit. And once i do buy them and want to drop, i would want them to be the right size for no rubbing after the drop. Im lost. This is my second corolla, my last was a 87 lol help!

A good start

A good start might be to consider the stock 17s and P215/45R17s that come on the S Plus model and transcribe those specs to your wheels of choice.

The 215/45R17 is a little small, not sure why Toyota used it. The diameter of all the other sizes in 15" & 16" sizes is around 25.0". Also use a little wider wheel with a better offset. They will look better, handle better & you can find lighter wheels too.

215/45R17 24.6" Diameter
225/45R17 25.0"
205/50R17 25.1"

205/55R16 24.9"
195/65R15 25.0"

I have 17x8 +35mm offset and they weigh 7 lbs less than the OEM wheels.
The OEM wheels are 17x7 +39 I believe and weigh about 24 lbs.

I feel like even the 17's on the s model look small still. I want a set on 18's preferably lighter than the s wheels as well. I was surprised when I rotated them the first time as to how heavy they were, the 18 inch stock wheels on my maxima feel lighter

It will fit okay but you may want to add some spacers to push them out 15-20mm. You could always test fit them first to see what you think. They will be sucked in 16mm more than a 8" +35mm offset wheel.

I am considering getting these [ame]http://www.amazon.com/18x8-5-Enkei-Gunmetal-Wheels-486-885-8045GM/dp/B00KWP6XG8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1431885181&sr=8-3&keywords=enkei+tsp6[/ame]

Any recommendations if I do as far as spacers and offsets?

Those will fit just fine. Compared to my 17x8 +35mm offset they will be sucked in 4mm more than mine. Does the wheel come in a 40 or 35mm offset?

I'm new to this wheels stuff but when you guys talk about 17x8 and all those number I get some of it and get lost on the others.

So as far as I know,

17 is the wheel size.
8 is how wide the wheel is correct?

I just don't know what the other numbers are like +/-30 etc. Can someone explain please? What exactly does the offset do? Make the wheels more deeper/shallow, etc? Since I'm in the market for new wheels that would fit it nicely after lowering it. Also what are other stuff you can put on it like spacers, etc? Pros and cons?

Thanks lol
Correct, the 17x8 has a 17" diameter and 8" width. The offset tells you how much the wheel will be pushed out or sucked into the wheel well.

On a scale a wheel will be more sucked in to being more pushed out.
+50mm..........+40mm........+30mm.......+20mm........+10mm offset
More sucked in..........................to........................more pushed out
