Hey Guys,
We just got our 1st new car, black Camry'09 SE w/JBL, Moonroof package. It came with standard 17" wheels.

Questions:

1. I wanted to know if it's possible to change just the rims not the tires. I want the rims to be black. How much do they cost generally? What would be the best place to buy?

2. Do car dealership tint the windows? Or should I take it to a car shop? General cost? How do you deal with different visibilities laws in each state when you travel?

3. What does K & N drop in filter do? Does it affect MPG in any way? Best place to buy?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks a lot. That helps. How do you deal with different tint laws in each state when traveling?

Two more things that I am curious about:
TRD Springs & K&N Typhoon Intake. What's their purpose?

Sorry for being a noob! I am very new to this stuff.

I drive thru DC,MD, Va , PA and have not had any issues and I have 20% tint.

Knock on wood.:D

Also you can go online and check with your states' laws regarding tinting, try a search here because I have seen the website here in past threads. BTW congrats on your new Camry I bought mine a few months ago and love it. Welcome to TN

"Find out what your state allows (most likely your local tint shop is aware of this) and tint it to legal."

What mvfromva said. Go to a local shop in your area. They will know your state's laws on tinting. A dealer will only job this out to one of the local tint shops and take a markup on their price.

A far as wheels are concerned, consider having your OEM wheels powder coated black. Many of the aftermarket wheels are simply painted black (some are powder coated black). Powder coating is more durable than painting. Look up powder coating in your local phone book. Many of these shops can have the tires removed and remounted and rebalanced for you as part of their price. Some shops will do this themselves and some will job the dismounting and remounting and balancing of the tires. Just another option to consider.

1. Not going to answer as its already been answered above

2. Here are the laws for each state http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/. As someone mentioned if your car is tinted in the state the car is registered, going to another state shouldnt be illegal. However, if pulled over, just roll down all the windows so the offer knows nothing is hiding behind the tinted windows. As for costs, it all depends on shop and what they use. The better the brand of tint, the more it would cost. Cost of tints can be from $100-250.

3. Better air flow. You wont notice any difference in MPG. I bought mine for $40 at Pep Boys. It retailed for $59.99. I had $10 coupon that is in their flyers and got another $10 off for some discount that the register automatically took off.

1. I'm sure you can get tims in black to fit it, just make sure the dealer knows you have TPMS. The low tire light saved me twice already... I'll never have a car without it again.
2. My wife got an 09 tinted at the dealer, I think the sticker add on was $345.
3. I wouldn't bother with the fancy filter, you won't notice the difference. Stick with the stock one.
