Some short bed double cabs are also built at the in Mexico. You can find out where your truck is made by looking at the VIN.

If your VIN starts 3 it was built in Baja Mexico at the TMMBC plant.
If your VIN Starts 5 it was built at the Nummi plant in Cali.

The Tacoma is sold in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, and the US.

All Tacomas for the American market are built in Fremont, California.
Not true. Some of them are built in Baja, Mexico and are then imported to the United States.

Basically, Unless you live in the southern or border states, then your Tacoma was probably assembled in California. All beds are built in Mexico.

From what I've heard, the Mexican plant is pretty low tech, compared to the California plant.
I can't imagine why the Mexican Plant would need to be high tech. The beds seem pretty easy to assemble. Everything else is built at NUMMI except the frames and the engines and transmissions if I remember correctly.

^^ I think the only GM product built at that plant is the Pontiac Aztec IIRC one of Pontiac's SUV's

both GMs and Toyotas? that can't be good
I think its a beneficial partnership. For that particular plant, it was a retired GM facility. Toyota offered to run the facility but it is still owned by GM.

After that, GM upper management and Toyota upper management have been spending lots of time at each other plants to learn. From my understanding, Toyota introduced their first V8 with the help of GM. And GM learned quite a bit on how to be more efficient in manufacturing. But I wonder with the market today with Toyota's success if GM would make the same deal it did 20+ years ago.
