Which floor jack can i buy that will lift this Tacoma and a compact car that is light (aluminum maybe?) and has plenty of vertical lift with minimal strokes? Could anyone point me in the best direction? Thanks

I bought one of those Craftsman Professional Truck / SUV floor jacks that has "rapid rise" (ie; one pump from floor to frame), and it's the biggest piece of garbage I've ever had around the house. Aside from the fact that is has been sent in for "refurbishing" twice, it still leaks oil, acts weird, and is heavy and cumbersome, I have grown to hate just about evrything made by Craftsman in the last 10 years.

I went and bought an aluminum "racing style" floor jack from Harbor Freight and beats the shit out of my Craftsman Pro series on any given day.

Just my $.02.

ditto that man. I own the lightweight alloy sears jack and it has a hard time with the tacoma. It will lift my 98 VW golf with out a problem.

dont go with the sears alloy jacks. they suck. Im sorry I wasted my money too, I might head over there and see if I can get a store credit. :naughty:

My Craftsman 2.5 ton shit the bed after lifting just a Nissan Maxima about ten times. Imagine my dismay at the the fact that jacks are among the items NOT covered by Craftsman's vaunted lifetime warranty. I'll never buy another one.

Glad to hear that about the Harbor Freight jack. They just opened a store here in town.

Also... my cousin picked up a nice Michelin 3.5 ton jack at Sam's Club. It has served him well (and me, since the demise of my jack).

Don't get me started on the Craftsman warranty thing.... I have had Craftsman tools my whole life. Evevery tool I have bought in the last 10 years has been crap, and has been taken back. I would say only half of them are covered.

Last time? A 3/8 drive ratchet. NOT COVERED.. Big sticker on it that says "unconditional warranty"... Even the manager saying, it's not covered. I don't know about you, but I have a different definition of unconditional.

I have started buying Kobalt tools now, and have to say that the quality is well above Craftsman. And Lowes doesn't say ANYTHING when you take back a Kobalt tool. They just hand you a new one. Like Craftsman USED TO DO...

The Arcan jack that I got at Costco has been one of the best tools I've ever bought. I've used it countless times. It's low profile, lifts quickly, and was $69.99.

I have yet to buy anything from Costco that has turned out to be a piece of junk. I hope that will always be the case.

Craftsman 3.5ton Jack

I have a craftsman 3.5ton rapid lift jack. That things weighs a ton but so far I haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood). I've used it for over 3 years no problem on my "light weight wrx". We'll see how it holds up with my Tacoma. Man, you guys are scaring me, I hope my floor jack holds up. Maybe I just got lucky
