Why did you choose your Tacoma over a Frontier?

This is not trolling. I don't own either, but am considering both. From my research each seems to have their plusses and minuses, but I'm wondering why YOU made the choice you did and/or if you ever even considered the other option.

I'm interested in quad-cab models only, if that makes a difference.

I'll admit that I looked at the nissan... coming form an 01 Xterra, I knew that they were maintenance free...

MAIN REASON:
1. I think the Taco looks better than the Frontier
2. The Frontier would barely fit in my garage (I think it's the same length of the LB Taco)

That's about it. Somebody once told me that Nissan is the poor man's toyota...

not considered frontier. i also think the toyota is a better look.
the other day i was driving on the freeway with my chick and she said that a guy in the a new frontier was checking out my truck, i told her he either wishes he had this truck or is loking at it and saying its ugly. whatever it is i dont like the frontier.

I first test drove a Frontier before driving a Tacoma, and to me the Frontier seemed not as well built. I also think the Tacoma is a better looking truck.

Reputation for reliability, higher resale value and better looks.
Pretty much the same here... We knew we wanted a Tacoma, but also kept an open mind and seriously considered a Frontier before purchasing. Test drove a Nismo 4x4, and really had no complaints. It's been a couple years, but as I recall it drove well enough, had a smooth strong engine, and the ride was a bit firmer, almost harsh. Really didn't strike me as a bad truck at all, and in all honesty may have bought one if Tacomas didn't exist.... but they do, and we bought one!

the only thing i like about the frontier, is inside the bed the wheel wells are more lower profile. you could ride an atv with wider aftermarket wheels and tires on the wheel wells. and have it be secure. Other than that i dont like it. interior is black and the exterior looks like every other nissan model in their line up.

pretty much reliablility, looks and numbers. The tacoma was just hands down the better truck. Yea i could have spent $1000 less and gotten an equally equiped Frontier. But i really think the Frontier is $1000 less truck. I thought the tacoma's motor felt much more powerful then the Frontier's and the Tacoma handled much better on the road. The interior as a major point too. Some of the retarded ass magazine complain about the "Plain" tacoma's interior but compared the a Frontier it's a Lexus and compared to Dodge and Chevy it's a god damn Rolls Royce.

I did look into the Frontier for about 3 days. The only reason is that I though I could get more for the money, which in some ways, is true.

After I thought about it, I wasn't in love with the Frontier's styling. I've never owned a Nissan and my Camry was one of the best cars I've ever had and it's still running strong for a friend of mine. BTW, it's a 1991. The Nissan's I have been in contact with haven't faired all that well IMO.

It turned out that I liked the base package Tacoma (w/ V6, 4x4) better than anything Nissan was willing to offer me for similar money.

... and yes, the Frontier is squatty, boring and fugly.

I looked at and test drove the Frontier along with the other manufactures. I was not too impressed with the overall comfort and handling with the frontier as I was with the Tacoma. I ended up buying A Tacoma because of the past experiences with owning a Toyota( reliablilty). I would have to admit that it is getting harder to choose since the competition is getting pretty equal.

The looks of the Frontier was what kept me from choosing it. Plus I like the ride, steering, and acceleration of the Tacoma. But mainly the style is what made me choose the Tacoma.
That's a big issue for me as well. I am not a big fan of the way the Frontier looks. I don't want to get too bogged down in that though as it's somewhat correctable with a small (2"+/-) lift. While the lifted Tacomas look somewhat better than stock, the lifted Frontiers look 1000% better.

My friend is ready to trade in his 2005 Frontier NISMO for a tacoma becasue he has to many problems with the truck and the frontier strated rattling alot after like 5,000mi. I bought the tacoma because of reliability, resale value and looks.

DC Cab Space - there's actually very little in the Frontier. I have two tricycle motors that I have to haul around, so this was VERY important to me.

I liked the looks of the TRD over the Nissmo & when you really added up the options, the Tacoma was only about 15oo more. With the first hassle listed above, it was very easy to go w/ the Tacoma.

I compared both the Taco and Fronty. Here's what I thought about before buying the Taco.

Pros for the Tacoma:

1. Toyota reliability (personal experience and reputation)
2. Toyota resale (compare the prices for 1-2 year old Tacomas and Frontiers)
3. When I bought mine, the Fronty didn't offer the longbed with the crew cab
4. The Taco's seats are much more comfortable seats (front and back)
5. The Tacoma looks so much better (subjective, yes)
6. The Tacoma has better performance (despite putting out fewer HP)
7. Even though the Fronty has much more options available, they come in stupid options packages, so it's difficult (or impossible) to pick and choose exactly what you want. If you're comfortable doing the work yourself, you can get better stuff aftermarket.
8. Slightly better sounding audio system on the Taco (the Frontier's front speaker placement on the dash is awful--all the sound is bounced off the windshield).
9. Taco has a better looking dash--the Fronty's was way too cheap and chintzy looking.
10. Slightly better gas mileage for the Taco.
11. The TRD Sport and OR packages are priced much better than the Nismo package, which is ridiculously overpriced for what you get.
12. More rear seat room.

Pros for the Frontier:

1. You can buy a similarly spec'ed truck for less
2. A lot more gadgets and options are available stock
3. Much quieter ride (until you sound deaden the Taco :naughty: )
4. Smoother, more refined engine and transmission
5. Better visibility from the driver's seat in the Fronty
6. Takes regular gas (Toyota recommends premium for the Taco)
