Wiper lengths

Wipers length specs wrong ?

Went to the auto parts store...
looked up the part # in the store's application booklet.
Even had a clerk look that up in their store 'puter for confirmation.

Specification calls for a 26" Driver and 16" Pass.

But it doesn't seem correct to me...
there's a gap left in the center that doesn't get swiped by either wiper blade.

and that rather bothered me.

So I installed a 28" to the driver's side with no altercation, 16" Pass side.
Fits without issue, works fine and fills in where the recommended lengths fail.

This specification of 26/16 surely can't be what the engineer's designed for the '10 right ?

Are the Factory Toyota wipers measured in the same way that AutoParts stores are listing ?

I bought my '10 four years old so have no clue what wipers it came with originally.

So I installed the WeatherBeater 28" / 16" and they now overlap (parallel) and swipe fully the center of the windshield.
These look fairly similar in their metal construction in accord with what the car was wearing when I took ownership.

Quiet... swipe leaves no streaking.
I'm using RainX washer fluid too. ...why the hey not !? Lol

Bigger swipe for the driver's side... but from passenger's viewpoint seems less then engineered and more like an after thought.

Be nice to bump the Pass. side 16" up to a 17" if that could fit.
anybody tried ?

I eyeballed it and thought the 17" maybe be a tad too long.

I've always found the OEM wiper blades to work better than any universal wiper. In fact I still have my original blades on my 09 Corolla and they worked well on my trip in September. I just bought new Toyota wiper inserts for the rest of the winter but I haven't installed them yet. I've never noticed any issue with the length. The larger driver side wiper clears a huge area.

You're in So Cal? I could've sold you a set of OEM Genuine Toyota refills that I bought last year, but didn't need to use them since the dealer put on new ones at no charge during my last service...
