WMA & MP3 CD question

I used Nero to burn a CD of WMA songs I have either ripped from CD's or bought from Walmart.com/MSN music/Rhapsody/etc.
When I put the disc in my factory JBL stereo that plays WMA's and MP3's, only a couple of the songs will play. The radio just skips over 90% of the songs. Anyone have a similar experience?

**UPDATE***
I wound up burning the protected wma's I've purchased to CD-RW (about 15 songs at a time) as "CD-audio" files using Windows Media Player 10. I then ripped them back to a new folder on my PC as unprotected wma's (192 bitrate) using the same program. I erased the CD-RW and continued the burn-rip process until all my songs were done. I burned about 117 of these wma's to a single folder on a single 700 MB CD-R using Nero 6 ("Make WMA CD") and it plays perfectly in my Camry's stereo! :)

Did Toyota screw up? It has WMA and MP3 written on the radio's bezel/surround. The display also shows "WMA" when I play the WMA CD. The first song plays, but then you hear nothing as the display shows the radio scanning past many of the songs until it decides to stop for whatever reason and play another WMA song.

I had the same problem, I think its because the audio system can't handle that many songs listed at once. You have to seperate all your songs into different folder, put 15 songs per folder (or 19 or 20), it may seem odd and annoying but its the only way you get all your songs. You can organize them by music type or artist, then use the folder buttom to browse through your CD.

I put over a 100 songs on a cd and no problems it might have to do with the songs he bought from Walmart .com. I use Nero also and burn mp3s and WMAs with no issues.
Hope that helps.

maybe the compression rate? IE... 192kb and such.
No, I think the OP's problems are caused by the DRM protection in some of his "purchased" files. They will only play on certain players. DRM is one of the most evil things out there. On a PC, you can hack and beat any form of DRM (whether it be on MP3s or DVDs). But your car's player is a much simpler device.

I've burned 110 songs on a data CD. Varying compression on the MP3 files between 128Kbps to 320Kbps. I've had a couple of WMAs in there, too. Played each and every file no problem.

^^^^ IM WITH STUPID AND STUPID-ER^^^^

Right protection appears to be the issue IMO.

I miss the 440W JBL in the Camry... That setup kicks! Well for almost everything... True DVD-A 5.1 is the shizzle. Maybe there's better? I dunno. the problem with the DVD-A is a limited supply of music, but the stuff that's out jams in a car.

FWIW - Right Protection is the very reason I still buy CDs, but I've recently been foiled by ONE band, prolly one of my more fav bands too, the Fucking Foo Fighters! Sonsabitches, I buy their CD cause I'll give props to those worth buying, I mean WTF like $12 and the MF-ers won't let me play their chit on the i-pod!

Like I said, if it's good enough to rip, burn, load or otherwise, I have no issue paying the premium to own the chit for my personal use... A lot less hassles than buying parts of music at the mp3 resellers.

i think its the copy protection, just pirate mp3's and burn them on a cd-r and you won't havr any problems :D

Protection.
The way I do it but it sucks, I make music CDs out of purchased files, then I rip then with Media player and use those new files. So far it works, but I will think that evenually it will stop. But you need a bunch of CDs. to end up with only one full of WMAs

I'm going to buy a small pack of cd-rw's for this purpose.

The TCH comes with the JBL premium 440w audio w/6 disc changer. I burned an MP3 disc and it plays perfectly - even displays all the text info. I took another disc and burned some WMA tunes on it but the system won't read it at all. Gives an error. I'll have to experiment some more. Hard to do since it's really the wife's car...

Burn the songs to a disc image (really a file on the hard drive with the same properties as a CD) in audio-CD format, then use a program like daemon tools or alcohol 120 to load the image onto a virtual drive, and rip the songs back to mp3 using media player. That's how I've been able to get around copy protection, without wasting a bunch of CDR's in the process.

If that doesn't work, you could try playing the songs on your computer, then use a recording program to capture the audio signal being put out by the computer and re-record it into an audio file. The new file will not be copy-protected. Note I mean use software to capture the output of your compter, rather than just holding a microphone up to the speakers. Alternatively, you could loop a cable directly from the speaker jack to the microphone jack and do it that way.

Solution: Only Download and Burn MP3's, Forget the Rest

i only download mp3's, period. All these thievin places just use formats that only work in their player program. Its a scam, get it. Forget rhapsody, itunes and all the other crooks, their formats are propietary cause, duh, they make more money that way. I have tried file conversion programs etc. but they are more trouble than they are worth and most dont work anyway.

If you do a search for mp3 downloads, and God forbid any of those site should be illegal downloads, (because this would be wrong, wrong i tell you!) then you can just download your songs and burn em to cd in Nero and it plays in everything.
