I don't have one. I think I want one. Have been looking at used 2005 and newer double cab 2wd.

Are there any usual problems with any model year? I saw somewhere that 2005's had problems, but don't know what.

I would greatly appreciate your input as to what to watch for.

Thanks.

My 05 was built in 11/04. Been great overall.

05's windshield kazoos at very high speed driving & crosswind, only happens maybe once a year for me. The clutch pedal squeaks when warm & dry out. The tailgate has been upgraded in 08. Haven't bent mine thou. All 05-08's have same rear leaf springs, those that haul heavy loads will want the TSB. Only time I ever been back to dealer in 40 months.

05's do not have Tire pressure monitors. Nice for those who run two tire/wheel sets.

SERIOUSLY, hundreds of you on this website a day and I get ONE response of a problem? Do any of you actually drive a Tacoma?

I was just on the Edmunds discussion board and there seems to be many issues of quality on 2005 + Tacomas. I guess you all here have perfect trucks.

Thanks, demoncleaner, for your honest response.

Otherwise, I don't see much use in this board.

You Trolling?

SEARCH and you will find problems. Tailgates, exhaust manifolds, tin foil bodies, clutch squeaks, there are a few. Take your choice of which vehicle problems you want to accept and buy it.

If you are too lazy to research yourself don't put everybody else at blame.:)

Yes the guys on here get a little tired of awnsering the same questions over and over, but frankly this is a specefic board and most guys are looking at modifications of all types and indepth input.
Your asking kind of a general question. No vehicle that ever comes off an assembly line is going to be perfect. No matter what vehicle company you buy from some of them will have minor problems, we choose toyota because they tend to have less problems than some of the other or whatever your choice may be. As far as 05 models, nothing major has really changed from 05-08 as far mechanics or to my knowledge. The fact is any new generation of a new model is going to have a few more squeeks in it than the rest. The first gen tacomas were from 94-04 so although not a ton changed, some would argue its best to buy one of the later models- the longer that gen has been around the more bugs get worked out. So although the 05 is the first year of a new model most guys with them are having great luck with them from what i hear.
I've been on those stupid car review sites online and i see idiots that waste their time rating the truck as the worst they've ever had and this as that. Frankly i think its some loser with nothing but time on his hands and just wants to bash jap vehicles because he loves ford trucks. Most of the reviews suck and you cant really tell if the person owns the truck or is a 16 year old kid pulling your chain.

Take her out test drive it, make sure its clean and get a good deal, you'll be happy with it. As for the other fellow looking for a 4x4, personally i hate the 6 speed in this truck and i like driving standard.

All trucks have problems, but all i can say is that most are recalled so you wont have to worry bout those. you must also look at resale, performance, style, awards, and function. And if you take those into consideration you will see that toyota pretty much wins them all. Test drive it buddy. really no one on here is going to talk sh*t on thier trucks, se we are pretty biased. Do some search and you will be enlightened:D
