BOGUS, BOGUS, BOGUS!

This smells bad. I've seen this trick numerous times. This person stole the pics and info from a real seller and is posing as the seller. If you doubt me, run the VIN and see if the truck belongs to the person you will write the check to. I seriously doubt it. These guys list "CONTACT ME" for vehicle location and will tell you the vehicle is in the states, but they have recently moved out of the country and need to sell the vehicle cheap and fast.

Think about it. If this was a real scenario, the seller could contact a local dealer where the car is and sell it to the dealer for much more than the Buy It now price listed.

TO ALL READERS: The auction is just waiting for a sucker. Don't be that sucker. You've been warned!

Yeah I've seen his pics too. He is very helpful in responding to my questions. We should invite him to toyota nation.

I wrote an email to eBay about the fact that it's a scam and sent them a link to Bob's cardomain page where this guy found all the pictures for his eBay auction.

Someone should bid like $100K on it! I hate scammers, why not scam them back. This happens with ATV's all the time. SOmeone will post about it and before ya know it there's a yamaha grizzly selling for $20K.

don't do that if the auction has no reserve. your bid will constitute a contractual obligation.

Menacing emails are also good. Start asking all kidns questions about it, if you can come look at it and such. The items are usually yanked anyways, the exact thing happens with atv's all the time you wouldnt believe the bids on some of them. I know folks who have done this to scammers and have not been held to anythign contractual since its a scam. Heck I saw a roll of paper towels go for over $100 on ebay. Luckily most shoppers are smart and dont fall for these BS ads anymore.

I emailed the seller asking him when I could see it. Then I added that I liked his cardomain page and I also kept calling him Bob. Put a little fear into the fucker until eBay gets their ass in gear.

Edit: It's down now. Whether he pulled out or eBay nabbed him will reamin to be seen. Heh.. Heh I said "pulled out". I hope eBay writes me back telling me what they did. I could see eBay having some sort of "Gestapo". They storm the guy's house, break the door down, smash his computer and then just walk out casually.

Edit #2: I didn't read closely enough. eBay definitely pulled it. Sweet justice.

Here is the response I got from the guy

"
Thank you for contacting me regarding your willingness
to purchase my Toyota Tacoma.
First of all I want to tell you that the price
includes all the shipping costs and insurance so you
will not have to pay any extra charges. The car has a
Clear Title which will come along with it.
The car is in a perfect condition (no mecanical or
optical problems, no scratches or dents, no engine or
gearbox problems). It will be delivered from Germany
via Lufthansa Air insured and It will take 4-5 days
tops until you will have it at your address. The car
is an US model with US specs and it will comes with
all the documents you need to transfer it into your
name.

I am willing to let it go for $6600 with delivery
costs and insurance included.

I request the payment to be done through eBay Buyer
protection Service. Only after you will receive the
car I will recive the money. So in this deal eBay will
be the third party .Please note that eBay will hold
your money until you will confirm to them that you
received the car and you accept to keep it and
transfer the title into your name. This is for an
secure and good deal.

If you agree with these terms, please email me your
full name and address and ebay ID and I will be more
than glad to
start the transaction with you trough eBay Buyer
protection Service."

Warmest Regards!

Its a big site, they can't keep on top of everthing real time. They took care of that Tacoma pretty quick I think. A "Fraud Report" button would be a good idea like you suggested before.

As soon as they take one down the guy in India or where ever he is from will have 5 more up. You could find them all day long.

When I sold my car on Autotrader.com I would get a "Scam" email everyday, people just have to use common sense, can't expect ebay to check each item before its listed to see if its lagit.

I agree 100%

I agree 100%

However go to ebay's site and report a fraud item . . You can't! There is no shortcut anywhere for this huge issue. They do not even have this in their search function.

This has been going on for years!! And they still do not have ANY type of notification system.

I don't expect them to watch every listing. But they should have a place to report blatant scams.

The only reason the other listing is gone is I told the owner of the truck and I bet he called ebay.

more info

Thanks for sending me that info yesterday. Was removed within an hour after I contacted 3 different departments at ebay. I don't know if I was more pissed and insulted that they took my pictures off of this site or that they were only selling it for $6,600.00! I'm posting some new pictures today. Just finished preping it for Fall/Winter.

See what I mean, no fraud department.
