Hey guys, checking to see if anyone has really gone through a good cycle with the Eco/Normal/Sport modes and seen what a difference would be in MPG. I would really count out sport mode for this as most that leave the vehicle in sport mode are probably going to be heavier on the gas pedal and not as consistent with driving to account for changes. I'm currently almost at 4000mi and have been keeping all of my gas receipts to keep track of mileage and have seen a steady increase as I get used to the vehicle and surprisingly have found that it is much easier to get more MPG in Regular over Eco mode. I drive the same routes to and from work everyday and traffic is barely negligible as the roads are pretty open during my driving times. After the first 2k miles of playing with the different modes I left the car in Eco for all of the daily commutes and was getting right around 25.5-25.8mpg with the occasional tank of 26+mpg verified by gallons used for each tank/fill up. I switched over to the Normal mode for the last 1000mi and while I do enjoy the increased throttle response over Eco mode I was still cruising at the same speeds and found that I was consistently getting better MPGs for all of my trips and have verified over the last 3 tanks of gas that it has been 27-28mpg's very easily. I know that weather conditions, road conditions, tire pressures can all play a role in MPG but for all that I could control myself found it very interesting that using the Normal mode over the Eco had better results for MPG and of course is more fun to drive with not having the increased delay from the throttle.

I use eco mode only when the traffic is stop and go, but for normal highway driving I average 27-28 MPG

Might be since ECO mode changes the throttle mapping, it uses more gas to get to 60mph than normal mode or does it use the same amount of gas regardless of the driving modes? Not sure. Also, did you do your own calculations or did you base it off the car's MID display?? If you did, did you reset the mpg every time you refueled? Or is the fuel economy type set to tank which will reset for you?

I'm not sure if this still applies to new vehicles (personally, I think it does) but new engines burn more gas. Maybe that's what you're noticing here.

Based on my MID display. I was getting 27.2 mpg with ECO, now getting 27.4 mpg in normal. 85% freeway driving at 75 mph.

I feel like you may be right as the car felt so laggy that it took quite awhile for it to get up to speed and in regular mode it moves so much easier from a stop. I was checking mileage manually going off of how much fuel was used before and miles per each tank.

I have also heard that motors will get a little better mpg once they have broken in.
