XSE vs Touring

Wondering if you folks can help. Trying to decide between the XSE and the Touring. The only factor for me is really the stereo. Where I’m at, the JBL will only be optioned with the Touring. The audio is important to me. I have not heard the JBL system nor the stock system. Is the base system really bad or acceptable? If so, I would get the XSE. If not, might get the Touring.

Any other insights as to which I should sway more to?

The limited also has the JBL system. It should be available to you as well. We have the limited. I'm not a big audiophile, so I can't directly answer your question, but if audio is important to you, I would pick the model that has the JBL.

There are several videos on youtube discussing the JBL system for the 2019 Avalon.

Here is one recently that I watched:

Best of luck to you.

I have mixed feelings about the Upgraded JBL audio system in the Limited, which we own. I have been an audio fan for 5 decades, and would be embarrassed to say how much money I've spent over the years on audio for the home and vehicles. I still have a bunch of it too.

In my opinion, the real question is what kind of programming are you going to listen to in the vehicle. I just did a ~1,200 mile trip over a 4 day time frame, by myself. I found the sound from the Sirius XM signal to be very, very good, bordering on outstanding. The imaging and positioning of the instruments and vocals were very clear and defined, and the musical range was great (even though my 60+ year old ears have lost some ability at the high end). It was good enough that I'll probably sign up for a subscription when the trial period is over.

When I switched inputs to the Slacker radio, or FM, or God forbid, AM, the sound was good, but I wasn't constantly looking to turn it up like I was with the Sirius XM signal.

The upgraded Audio wasn't the key reason we went for the Limited, but I certainly don't feel like it was overpriced for what you get.

Get the touring, don't look back IMO. You get many more bells and whistles. I drive my car hard, and using the different suspension/sport settings (based on my mood) is very helpful after a stressful day :)

JBL system is available in XSE.

JBL system is worth it in my opinion as well.

Toyota Hawaii doesn’t option the XSE with the JBL so it’ll have to be the Touring for the JBL.

Gotta love Toyota's private distributors...Servco must be loving its monopoly on the islands, and Tacomas brah!
