It's the first time to hear that 4-pot engines don't eat 5W-30. That's all that I fed my old Echo's engine...

 

You'll be OK. It won't hurt anything.

 

Moreno Valley is out in the desert, right? Higher viscosity is demanded there because of the summer heat.

Your owner's manual calls for 0W-20 or 5W-20 for the 2AZ 4 cylinder engine. It's a brand new car, so why take the chance IMHO. Take it back to where you purchased it and exchange it. If you can't find the receipt, call the store and ask to speak to the store manager. Explain the situation and chances are he or she will just say to bring it back in and ask for them. I had a similiar situation when my 98 Camry was totaled and I purchased an 07 Camry with the 2AZ engine. I had 3 cases of 10W-30 I had stocked up on. I spoke to the store manager and explained the problem to him and he exchanged it for me for the 5W-20. I even brought a few pictures of the totaled car with me to further my case.
