I have a 2007 Camry XLE 4 cyl. It has aprox. 27k miles. When I brought it in for service they told me I need 2 services 1. a fuel injection cleaning because of carbon buildup in the engine ($150) and 2. a new cabin air filter ($129)....do you recommend these services for those prices?

cabin air filter i would get replaced but that seems a bit pricey. fuel injection cleaning is bs for a car so new. if ur that worried then go to a sunoco or shell gas station and fill with the highest octane. it'll have all the cleaners in it already or go to a parts store and buy a bottle. i don't think u need it for this low of a mileage.

I think they are trying to drum up business. They are all hurting, looking for any bull to charge you for. Way high prices too. Look in the glove box changing your own filter takes like 5 min tops. What they are doing borders on criminal. How do they know it has carbon buildup? Have you complained of knocking, set codes? Carbon causes hot spots, will cause knocking. Do you have a funky smell? No, then no air filter for me.

Tell them politely no thanks, that is what I would do if I haven't had any previous issues. I have two cars with over 200k never had fuel system flush. Just a can of sea foam in the gas with every oil change.

Cabin filter is < $15 at Advance (Purolator brand); pop the glove box down, pull old filter, put in new, push the glovebox back in; takes < 15 min, easy-peasy.:D

The fuel injector cleaning service is primarily offered to remove that nasty green paper stuff from your wallet and transfer it to the dealer's. A 27K car isn't going to be carboned up unless the fuel you've been using is total crap; using the majors' stuff, and the intake should be quite clean well past the 100K mark.

Sounds like the dealer's proposing a wallet rape. Treat as such.
