03 Corolla clock and radio/cd audio not working

Hi,

Need help solving electrical/audio problem.
LCD clock on dash worked only intermittently for about a week. (on and off at random every few hours it seemed)
Then yesterday, no sound from radio/cd/cassette player--only a pop from back speakers when system turned on. All is working/playing on system except for no sound. And clock below radio on dash is now not working at all. Everything else working, including both cig lighters/chargers, dome light, all dash stuff etc.

Checked fuses under dash and under hood. All good.

I might assume the radio amp failed, but that doesn't explain clock which is not part of radio.

I did use one of the cig chargers yesterday with engine off for phone charging, and then radio failed hours later. Not sure whether that is coincidence.

Maybe the amp and other radio functions are powered separately? and I have a short or in-line fuse issue in power to amp and clock? Not sure what to do from here other than open up dash and start tracing ...

Any suggestions?
Anyone have similar issue?

Hope someone can shed some light on possible solution.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Frederick

Thanks dorman68! That looks like my problem with clock.
And the "no sound" from radio issue was a result of too much junk in the trunk--a loose metal bracket laying in trunk attached to right back speaker magnet and shorted speaker leads--removed bracket and audio/sound works fine.
Love inexpensive remedies!
