Ok guys I really need some help here!! I have a 1992 Toyota Camry and about 180k miles on the baby. After I changed alternator belt, I start up the car, it ran fine for 5 seconds before it shut off (by itself). Then I tried to start again the car would not start. The engine does turn over but doesn’t start, I have fuel (so much that I almost flood the pistons). First I check all the fuels in the car they were all fine. Then I checked the car for spark and I found out there is no spark coming out. I pull one of wire and hook that to an extra sparkplug and ground that to the engine (metal). There is no spark what’s so ever when I tried to crank the car up. I also did the same test with the same sparkplug with a different car. The second time it had sparks. I also used the volt meter to test where the connecter on the side of the distributor. When I turn the key to on I get a reading around 12volts. So my next guess was the distributor. I check the ignition coil also by using the volt meter and it checked out fine (also brought the coil to Advanced Auto parts the guy did the same test to confirm). I then took apart the whole distributor to check any loose wire, I didn’t find any. NOW I am really lost…I can’t think of what is going on, but every time I try to use the spark test and the result are the same, no spark coming out of the plug. Should I go out buy a brand new distributor and try this again or what?? Please help guys!! I know it’s not the compression also

Go to the TN on-line Camry service manual for this generation of car. Check out the ignition portion of the manual. This section has a great deal of info on troubleshooting. Remove the coil wire from the distributor, hold it about ½ inch from ground and crank the engine. If no spark, the problem lies before the distributor.

This is a long shot, but easy enough to check.

While you were replacing the alternator belt, you may have knocked a wire loose....I'm thinkin' crank position sensor here.
