Hello everyone,

I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out in the hope that someone here might be able to help me resolve an issue that has been quite challenging. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

My father recently acquired a 2004 Camry, but upon receiving the car, we discovered that the remote key fob wasn’t working. I attempted to re-sync the remote, and while the car successfully enters programming mode, as indicated by the door locks cycling, the key still won’t pair.

The remote's battery is new, and it has been confirmed to work properly; a locksmith tested it with a device that detects remote transmissions. We also tried a new remote, but unfortunately, we encountered the same issue. After watching several tutorials, I replaced the Receiver Door Controller module, but the problem persists. The car enters programming mode, but the key fob fails to pair despite following the procedure (pressing the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for 1.5 seconds, then the lock button for 2 seconds). I've tried this process multiple times and even experimented with different button combinations based on recommendations, but nothing has worked.

Programming mode seems to function correctly, but the remote simply doesn’t want to pair. I'm wondering if there’s something I might be overlooking or if there could be another component responsible for this issue. At this point, I'm feeling quite frustrated with the situation. I've attached a picture of the old controller module for reference, and I’ve ensured that the cable is properly connected to the new one.

Thank you in advance for any guidance or suggestions you may have

@rey0704: Thanks for reporting back. I was going to suggest getting a new fob (or fobs) as I have never encountered any car where the receiver went bad (I'm sure such exist, but they're rare).

Partially failed fobs, however, are just dirt common. One of the two for my '04 Solara died last year and I got 2 eBay specials and programmed them. "The guts" from one went into the Toyota fob shell and all three work just fine (the other Toyota original has never failed, yet).

I should have tried a brand new remote first before spending any money, locksmith said it was fine , so I didn’t give it further thought , out of lack of other ideas I decided to buy one off an Auto Parts Store any way, and it worked on the second try, thank you 🙂, just wish I’d posted this here earlier
