Is it me or what ? I clean the windows more on the inside than any other car/truck I have owned. Does anyone else notice this? I think it may be from the dash board. Maybe it the plastic giving off gases or something.

Fumes from the "new car smell" glues, etc are given off and have to be removed from the windshield. On another note, apparently the manufacturer recommends not using ammonia based(Windex type) cleaners for inside tinted windows and we should use a non-ammonia based product.

I was JUST swearing about that myself today

Yes, it is the protectant in the dash that is evaporating. All new vehicles will do it for a time. God I hope it stops soon. What really gets me is even with a good quality window cleaner like Sprayaway it is a royal PITA to even get the window clean. Then 30 seconds later it is all streaked again. :sosad:

I'm pretty sure that's jsut for windows with aftermarket tint. Mostly ebcause factory tint is inside the glass where as aftermarket is a film on the external portion of the glass.

Believe it or not the absolute best thing to clean any window with is water and vinegar wiped on and off with newspaper. I know sounds crazy but it works like no ones business. I just don't want to drip vinegar water all over my interior and have the inside of my truck smell like an Italian sub or a salad all the time.

damn, now I'm hungry! Anyone ever been to Laspada's in Davie, Florida? Nothing but Boars Head meat and cheeses, the best Italian sub this side of little Italy. Crap, now I need to eat something.

Wouldn't you get newsprint everywhere?

A lot of people use newspaper to wipe down windows. Plastic does emit some kind of stuff from it. Since there's a lot of plastic in this truck dont look for it to quit anytime soon. I had a 2000 Jimmy that did the same thing up until I got rid of it in 2004.

As far as the window tint I dont see any reason why you couldnt use ammonia base on the back windows because the tint is not exposed. But my front windows were tinted as an option and it is a film on those. Everyone at my house has tinted windows so there's not much ammonia based window cleaner around anyways.

I hate paper towels for the lint that they generally leave behind and all over the dash. I mostly use a foam cleaner and a microfiber towel, no lint or streaks.:D
