My friend's two remotes stopped working. I changed the batteries and reprogrammed the remotes but
neither remote could be programmed. So I found some info stating that it is probably
the Receiver door control that is bad.

I see many used Avalon parts that are similar 89741 is okay but the -AC070 is never found.
Does anyone know how to find a compatible part. I hate to purchase an expensive part that
may not solve the problem

Thanks
David

When I check on ebay it says not compatible with solara, camry. I wonder if it is the fob is not compatible, in that case I can get a toyota Camry receiver door control for camry and new fobs. My local Toytoa quoted a price fot the 89741-AC070 of almost $900.00.

The fob is the same. The connector is the same. I had zero issues putting it in. It was the 04-08 Solara. I had to a bit of homework. It’s a pain to find an inexpensive replacement for the Avalon. You can check online with scrapyards or pick and pull places. That’s the only advice I’d be able to offer. I got my door unit for less than 20 from eBay. So it was an inexpensive gamble for me.

Terry1996 is right, The AC070 suffix only refers to the attachment bracket, not the receiver box, but Toyota sells it as a unit. The receiver box has one circuit board that probably couldn't cost more than $25 to manufacturer. Why they jack the price so high is beyond me. The different Toyota's have different attachment brackets that attach to the receiver unit and that is the 89741-AC070 number. No way Toyota was going to have to stock individual door receivers for each car. Terry1996 research showed that the Solara 04-08 receiver is the same as the Avalon 2005-2007 that has a key start ignition. For all we know there may be other receivers that would work too. Search eBay for the Solara receiver and give it a try with the instructions on reprogramming. If you search around this forum there are instructions on how to access the receiver behind the rear seat.

I'm also trying to replace the keyless entry receiver in my 2007 Avalon. The location shown in the diagram above is a panel that seems quite well attached, with no obvious way to remove it. I've tried prying lightly around the edges, but I'm afraid I'll break something. Does anyone know, do I just need to pry harder? Or is this not the right location? Thanks greatly for any help! Very best, Nancy

Progress! I've located the receiver by prying at the panel until a couple of attachment points released. I can now see the receiver, but that pesky panel refuses to release further. Do I need to remove the seat or rear shelf in order to remove the paneL? What kind of attachment is holding it in place?
Thanks again for any help!
