Hello,
The knob on the end of my headlight dimmer / turn signal switch stalk along with the shaft attached to it recently popped out of the stalk (see attached image). I tried to push it back in but it wouldn't stay and even if I held it in turning the knob would no longer control the headlights. I've looked online for procedures to replace the entire assembly but all I found were for older models. Replacement is easy on older models because all you have to do is remove the steering column cover, unplug the wiring harness, remove two screws, and pull the assembly out of its socket. In my 2007, however, the pictures of the assemblies I am seeing online (see the attached image) appear to go around the steering column itself rather than just plugging into a connector on the side of it. It isn't clear to me if the steering wheel must be removed to replace this assembly or if there is a simpler way, and with all the clutter and cramped conditions in that area it's not easy to see exactly what must be done. A link to a replacement procedure or any other relevant information would be appreciated.
Thanks, Ray
