Has anyone had problems with the shifter assembly other than me? The dealership wants nearly $2000 to fix!!!! Someone H-E-L-P me please!!!
The floor shifter will not go into drive, it goes into reverse and neutral. I can go under the hood and manually put it in drive. After driving forward only, I put it in neutral to turn it off because it will not go in park until I go under the hood again and put it in park...

I'm not sure how the Gen6 console comes apart so some one else will have to help with that. But I do think you need to get in there and see if something has broken, come loose, or has jammed the shifter. Also look closely at the cable mounting points to be sure none have come loose or if the cable has come out of them. Sorry but that's all I can suggest at the moment.

I've taken it apart, (it snaps apart) and there wasn't anything blocking it or loose. Had someone else who has worked with Toyotas, he said the piece is plastic and two of the grooves the shifter goes into has worn down, that's why it doesn't go into drive... does that sound right? He suggested buying the part off of EBay and he'll do the repair.
