I now have over 20,000 kms on my 08 DC with auto trans and really like it so far.

Shifting is a little different than my old chevy was but that is/was to be expected.

12,500 miles and mine shifts extremely smooth, I have no complaints.

 

5k miles, no issues here.

 

10k miles only complaint is when putting it into drive from park it jumps a little. Auto tranny is very good though. I love it. Fast smooth shifts.

 

3300 miles on my NEW 2008 Tacoma. v-6 automatic Access Cab.

I pull a Ranger 17ft Bass Boat a couple days a week, but have not done any other type of towing.
As of this date, my Taco has only traveled the flatlands of OHio.

Let me tell you, I notice a "shudder" when my auto shifts under-load ie. pulling a boat up a slight incline. It does not slip, but the tranny seems less "solid" between gears than my buy-back 1997 tacoma did.
Maybe it's just me, but man, I hate how I feel that extremely slight shudder between gears.
I will keep you all posted as the durability of this transmission was toughted as being awesome.

I love the Auto in my '05.

 

15K miles and no problems whatsoever. It did take a little getting used to driving this thing though as I came from a 1993 Jeep Cherokee. The biggest thing to get used to was the brakes that seem to go to the floor. You push though and it does stop.

Trans shifts smoothly for me.

 

I like it. 14,000+. I would go as far as saying it's the best a/t I've owned (I think about 8 total?).

have an 05 shifting sucks ass, shifts like crap. Honest truth. Isnt there a TSB for the tranny mount or something?

 

i borrowed my buddy's automatic to go pick up a dirtbike i bought because i was to lazy to take my canopy off or go home to get my trailer and i was really impressed with it. i drove it about 100 miles round-trip and i liked the way it shifted a lot. kinda made me wish i had gotten an auto-it's one hell of a lot less work, that's for sure...

 

was it an 08? Also does anyone know about the TSB if its a new one? I thought I read it on here. Ill search for it

yeah my friend has an 08 and it shifts super smooth. I drove with him just to see if it did the same big ass jerk mine did

 

Nah, Im just harrasing ya. Im sure there is a way to make it shift smooth, as it should...

 

well after installing the Allpro Leafs it made it 50% better. It still does it but its WAY smooter than it was before. Im wondering if it is the angle of the transmission or driveline, something along those lines. I hope 6shooter has some insight on this or could ask one of his techs sometime

 

pm me exactly the condition, being as specific as you can. i will ask a couple of my guys if they've seen it before and search TIS for a similar issue and see what the cause of the symptom is, if it's been documented before.

 

Wait! Why pm it to him when your automatic tranny symptoms could help others on this board, especially myself. I don't really like how my 08 is shifting and would love to read about what you have going on. I guess just copy and paste whatever it is your pm to 6shooter.

I have driven Chevys for years. The Taco took some getting use to. I prefer the hard shift you can get from the Chevy. The Taco seems to just lull into gear comparitivly. I like the Taco but I also like to get in my Chevy and feel the shift or for that matter brake the tires free (posi) on 1 to 2 then another hard shift 2-3.
