i was driving on the 22 freeway yesterday and i wanted to see how fast i was going and i looked down and the speedometer was at 0! i kinda freaked out and so i took an exit and luckily there was a toyota dealer nearby. so i took it there to get it checked out and after an hour at the dealer they said it might've been because i installed an amp for my subs and that could've ruined the ecu or some bullshit.

once in a while my brake light and abs lights come on out of no where, but yesterday the brake light, abs, and my speedometer just stayed at 0. its weird.

i recorded the speedometer being at 0 while i was driving

could i somehow sue them because this is pretty dangerous

No, (Not Yet).

The amp that you installed, was there any wiring under the dash? Where did you connect the source and the on trigger to?

 

The brake, ABS, and speedometer all come from the wheels I believe, I'm surprised they didn't say anything about your aftermarket rims possibly causing the issue.

 

Wiring the Amp got to do nothing with the ecu, wiring the amp just use a power wire straight to the battery.

 

Bad VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). This would cause all those lights to be on, and the speedometer not working.

 

How can you fix that?, i think my mom civic have the same problem, the speedometer do not work.

 

Could be the Skid Control ECU.

Easy to check by the dealer hooking up their Intelligent Tester.

I have a 2008 Camry that is now currently in the shop for the 4th time for the same exact problem you have had in the past. My ABS, Brake, and airbag light come on and my speedometer and odometer go out. I have had 3 different things fixed and can't wait to see what they say is wrong this time. At the same time I am beginning the process of the lemon law.

What did they say was the problem the previous times? I have an 07 Camry SE that is giving the same problem. ABS light on and Speedometer not working. I would really like to know the cause of this problem because tonyizhurr didn't say what fixed the problem.

 

Technically it isn't fixed yet since its back in the shop. The first time they changed out the instrument panel, 2nd time the ignition cyclinder and rekeyed my car, and 3rd time they said my automatic start wire was slipping out and shorting things out so they changed out the plug. Don't know anything yet this time but will post when they tell me something.

 

so i'm guessing all your stuff is covered under warranty? ecp doesn't cover anything, i don't know why i even got it in the first place. they made me change out the entire main harness and the immobilizer ecu as well. i'm spending all this money to fix this and it's not even going to be worth it to sell the car after because i'll lose money either way.

 

I got my car back today, it's still not fixed. The speedo doesn't work, ABS, Brake and Engine lights are on. They said it's the instrument panel junction block that needs replacing. Part number 8273006551. This is going to cost an additional $980. tax in on top of the $3500. I already spent.

 

I got in my car tonight and noticed the same problem. ABS and brake lights on and speedometer stuck at 0.
I have 4 more days to drive it before I can get it to a shop.
should I be okay? Or is this something I need to get fixed ASAP?
