There goes the video of the noise. I'm a Nissan guy, and our valvetrains are this loud, but this Corolla I know didnt start off like that so...not sure. It's due for the big maintenance, but I cant imagine anything that could use replacing would cause that. BUT...the noise does seem to be coming from the front of the motor, and I can pick up the slight smell of burning belts. Does this sound familiar to anybody? Any answers, or a finger in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Thanks. But yeah, something is wrong, just not sure what. Car is going to the stealership soon, but they havent really had a good track record with me and my wife. Either way, its not metallic, and doesnt sound like any of the obvious noises I have come to associate with catastrophic engine failure. Nothing out of the ordinary was done, so I'm just trying to see if any other 10th gen Corolla owners have had similar noises.

I have the exact same sound on my S lately. These 1.8 cars are really bad when it comes to the accessory belt and pulleys.

A year ago I had the squealing noise on my hood and I took it to the dealership. They replaced the water pump and belt.

Less than a year later the belt completely blew off while I was driving in the middle of highway. I had no choice but to bring it to the nearest shop to have it fixed.

Fast forward to today its now again making that clunking sound on the same area and low and behold I now need a new A/C compressor. Oh by the by they're charging me $2,500 to have it completely replaced!

This is on a car with 42,000 miles and 4 months to go before being fully paid and God knows how many recalls. I love the car for how it looks and how it saved $$$ for me on gas but I will now move on from Toyota.

Makes me wonder if something done before was not done properly. If so, it would have little to do with the car itself. I've not heard of a lot of problems in this area but something like this could happen to any car of course.

This is scary. Would SRI also cause this on our car? That's the only engine mod that i have and sorry I'm new to this mod thing. Afraid of losing warranty if the SRI would do this.
The SRI has nothing to do with this.
