A few days ago while on an out of town trip when approaching vehicle and touching drivers
side door handle all doors should have unlocked which is how it's been programmed. I noticed that the front passenger door did not so, I have to reach across and manually open the door.

I can lock and unlock that door with the master switch on the drivers side, I can lock and unlock it with the switch on the passenger side but it will only lock with the smartkey fob but not unlock.

Anyone with any idea as to what may be going on?

It's been 21 days since the original post and there has been a lot going on in my line of work. One thing that I failed to mention in the initial post was that even after unlocking the FR door with either the master switch or the switch on the FR door I can only open it using the inside door handle still can't open using the outside door handle.

A bit weird for just the "unlock" signal and just for one door, but let's have a go at it.

My 2 cents to help you start to isolate fault.

First, let's rule-out a few things. Because you can operate the Front RH door lock with the interior door switches (both on the driver's side and FR pax side) then:
  • Front RH door lock assembly is good.
  • The Front RH door switch is good. And the Body ECU (located under dash to left of driver's left knee) is getting a good circuit from the Front RH door switch to that lock assembly (see diagram #1 and 2). The body ECU receives the front passenger door lock switch signal from the master switch and operates the door lock motor.
  • The Driver's door multiplexer switch is sending the driver's door mechanical switch signal thru the Body ECU to the Front RH door lock assembly.

So it appears that ONLY the "unlock" signal created by the key fob is not getting thru the system to the Body ECU and to the Front RH door lock assembly. The "unlock" fob signal comes thru the D8 and D6 connectors on your Body ECU. (see diagram #3)

So I suggest (with car ignition OFF) gently pull the D6 and D8 connectors (one at a time) from the Body ECU and then gently push them back in to see if the pins for that signal (D6 - pin 27, and D8 - pin 8) can re-seat and make a good connection.

If this doesn't resolve the fault, then next steps are to Tech Stream the door settings, reseat/replace the driver's door multiplexer switch, and (worse case) examine the wiring harness between the Body ECU and Front RH door lock assembly.

Good Luck.

Thanks Red Ranger, will give this a try
