Can someone please tell me why I would be getting 12.4 average mpg? I have driven the car 400 miles and that is my average, it is mainly street driving but it seems very low. There is no notifications from the car and the dealer could not find an issue.

Is this figured on your own? Miles divided by gallons to fill all the way up? I would still check the wheels, Jack it up and see if they all spin freely. Does it pull at all? Also I would get a cheap Bluetooth adapter and the Torque app. You can track and log almost anything the computer sees it would give you some insight as to what is up.

Man that sucks. My Altima just had a horrible tank but we idle a lot in the winter and it is to be expected. Got it out on the highway today for a short trip (160miles) and it did its best ever 39.2 mpg.

One other thing is that cheap gas with ethanol? E-85 perhaps?

Try to find a station with real gas and run a few tanks of that through it. If you have been using ethanol this will give you a few mpg for sure. --- http://pure-gas.org/

I don't know what is going on I am at a loss really. Check into that Troque app and Dongle.

Or let me borrow the car for about a month, I usually do about 3-5k a month, I am sure I could figure something out by then :p

They have an alternative don't know what it is or how good it is. I think it is pricey. Maybe some one with an Apple can chime in?

As good as it is I would almost buy a cheap used android just to use as a scanner. It does have to connect every once in awhile or if you want to upload to the internet. You could do that with wifi. That is what I do I use my old android as a Torque terminal.

So, I got an elm327 and scan master. What am I looking for? The only abnormality is on the mode 06 TID $D0, CID $2B failed and also you know that little dust flap under the fuel cap? Mine doesn't have one. I don't know if for some reason Toyota stopped putting them but every car I have had has had it. My short term fuel bank is at an avg of .056% long term is at 5.92% I filled up and reset my avg mpg and my hwy mpg is about 28 which is not up to par, the EPA mpg rating is showing 35 hwy 24 city.

Those are good fuel trim numbers. That is definitely a headscratcher.

I'm going to infer that the car is used, did you buy from a Toyota dealer? I'd be imploring them to find out what the deal is.
