I set my NAV screen to automatic yet when I turn the lights on the screen doesn't change to the darker, less bright screen. It always stays in the day mode unless I change it to the night mode. My Toyota dealership had no clue. Thanks

The issue has been solved. I was playing with the 'setup' button on the side of the nav screen. I noticed that it was set on permanant 'day mode'. I unchecked the box and the problem has gone away. I don't understand why the techs at Toyota didn't know this. Thanks.

Thanks Eugene. My Disp button is on my steering wheel. I saw the Setup button next to the display so I figured I'd give it a shot. Thanks for the tip.[/QUOTE

On my 2013 Highlander Limited, the DISP on the steering wheel controls only the small monitor above the nav/radio unit. To control the display of the nav/radio, don't you have to use the SETUP button on the right side of the display? It seems to make a difference what level you have yours headlights switched to as far as what position the display remembers. The Owner's Manual is a little confusing in its explanation.

The night mode is turned on automatically when you turn on your headlights. You can override it to stay in day mode during the day by enabling that Day Mode button, since in some states having wipers on requires to have headlights on, like on a rainy day. Having the display dim during the day makes it very hard to see though.
