The drivers-side blind spot monitor on my 2018 Camry XLE Hybrid intermittently malfunctions. Recently, the BSM has lit up several times when there were no other vehicles/motorcycles/bicycles/metal guard rails......nearby. Also, SEVERAL DOZEN times, the BSM has come on normally, but either failed to turn off for several minutes (several miles), or failed to turn off at all, until either manually switching the system “off”, or shutting the entire vehicle down, then restarting. The involved Service Manager says that nothing can be done, because the system in not generating any malfunction codes in the computer.
P.S. I know a little bit about “normal operation” of Toyota BSMs.......I am a former Toyota salesperson, and my previous vehicle, a 2012 Hybrid Camry, had 88,000 miles on the clock without a single malfunction of the BSM. My current car is definitely malfunctioning.
Has anyone else out there experienced Toyota Blind Spot Monitoring issues???
