I’ve had something strange happen twice recently when coming to a stop. It feels like I’m being hit from behind and I know that’s not happening. The second time which was yesterday it felt like someone hit me hard but there was no other vehicles anywhere near me and actually caused me to jerk hard enough to cause neck pain. I don’t have any engine lights on and I get my car serviced regularly. I had this happen with a vehicle I drove in high school and it ended up being a sensor that was going out. How would I find out the issue if no lights are on & if a sensor what sensor could it possibly be? I’ve been searching since yesterday & haven’t been able to find anything.

What is the year, model, and mileage of your Corolla? What exactly happens when coming to a stop, and does it cause the car to lurch forward while braking? At what speed does this occur?

2019 Toyota Corolla SE a little less that 160,000 miles. I made a complete stop & I heard a noise like my car was hit from behind but I wouldn’t necessarily say it lurched forward. I’m not really sure. I was on this back road near my house and not one car was on the road. It only occurs when stopping not while driving.

Experienced the same thing with my 22 se cvt, so far only happened twice one coming to a stop sign then right before full stop it feel like someone rear ended me, 2nd one while waiting on the stop then release the brakes a little to creep forward then suddenly feel like someone hit me again from behind
