All Lithium-Ion batteries are damaged by water, more so salt water. Now unless you have a Prime, the battery is inside the car so it shouldn't be exposed to water, normally. If for some reason it has, park it away from your house and have it checked as soon as possible.

 

Also RAV4 Hybrids get NMh batteries. Only the Prime is getting LiON

 

Some regular hybrids are getting the Lithium-Ion batteries. My 22 Limited has Lithium-Ion. Cars sold in the colder areas have NMh batteries, or so I have read.

 

My 24 XSE AWD has lithium, SoCal. From what I've observed, it recharges pretty quickly from regenerative braking and adds a nice punch from a dead stop and highway on ramps. I would be very reluctant to cross a flooded area in any car especially with batteries under the rear seats. I trust Toyota engineering to control charge and discharge rates while driving as well as safety engineering of components and placement.

 

Well our batteries are under the rear seat inside the car. If you're gonna cross a flooded area high enough to get that far inside the car, you got MUCH larger issues than the battery

 

I agree! But It happens too often. Many people use poor judgement during road flood events. Hoping young inexperienced members can learn forum posts.
