You posted this twice but here's the deal I'm betting you have the XLE version(Not limited nor platinum) Those have the PARKING SENSORS which is what your vehicle doesn't have. I had a XLE Camry and thought the XLE Highlander was the same it isn't. Only limited and Platinum have those sensors.

I have rear cross traffic alert so I expected this. That’s a bummer because I might have upgraded. Unfortunately the salesman didn’t know the difference between a limited and an XLE.

 

As above you do not have the bumper mounted sensors to warn you when you are getting close to something. And so well yes a lot of sales people are useless....... and we bought Ruby because she is red and top of the line.....no sales help required. It is a real bummer to not have the warnings because the Highlander is bigger and I use the systems all the time. Hard to park in my garage with out the warnings and camera system. Or go through drive throughs. And the cross traffic alert is super important too. On our UX200 I wish we had gotten a higher trim level too, because, while not as necessary, they really are helpful even for that size of a car (compact SUV.)
