Hey all,

Just throwing this out there to see if anyone is smarter than my dealership. Bought this vehicle used, pretty much perfect but after a few months I went to raise the power 3rd row seat (driver's side) and no movement, long beep. No big deal, worry about it later. A week or so later it worked just fine. Fast forward 6 months, tried to raise it, long beep and no movement (stuck in the folded position). Took it to the dealership which isn't close. They diagnosed it as losing calibration, recalibrated the seat, say it works perfectly and I come to pick it up the next day. Tested it before I left, of course, just my luck, still doesn't work ... but there is some improvement. Now it starts to go up, bogs down after about 3 inches then drops back down and has a long beep. Brought it back a week later they had it for 5 days, diagnosed it as a seat motor issue, replaced both seat motors (under extended warranty). They call back yesterday and say it was working 10 times and then quit on them they need to work on it more, they think possibly the seat frame is bent. I get a call this morning that the service manager worked on it with the tech and there was something about installation method that the tech was installing it incorrectly, they got it working, tested it up and down maybe 20 times, its perfect, come pick it up. Go to pick it up, pay my deductible and test it before I drive off. Goes up 3 inches, bogs down then returns to folded with a long beep. Needless to say I somewhat lost my shit in the parking lot, returned back to calm but had a pretty serious talk with the service manager and told him basically this is bullshit, my time is money, they should be paying me at this point, I'll bring it back but when I come back they're giving me a car to drive.

So after the above short story ... anyone seen this before? I think its total ass that Toyota didn't think to make a manual release override on the power seat but it is what it is. I'm assuming it can only be one of a few more things. Bent seat frame, sensors somehow going bad or seat ECU losing its mind and continually losing calibration.

Any other ideas I can pass on to the dealer? At this point I'm about to start looking at junkyards for a manual 3rd row seat.

This worked for me. You ned to do this from the seat controls behind the 2nd row and not the ones at the rear of the vehicle.
