I have been searching this site about the 30,000 Tune Up on my 2006 TRD Sport Extra Cab

Lots of info however I just want to summarize everything I need. I was planning on buying all the parts and use my buddy's mechanic to do all the labor. I am a desk nerd and I don't want to mess up even though this website has made me a believer in DIY.

So here's my list using all the information in various threads. I bolded and underlined the parts I will be buying.

- 6 quarts of 90 weight gear oil (Redline 75W-90)
$10.49 at Amazon (Auto Barn)

3.0 quarts for rear diff
1.6 quarts for front diff
1.1 quarts for transfer case

-limited slip additive (Red Line Oil 80301 Limited Slip Friction Modifier)

- TRD Sport models and trucks with the mechanical LSD should use Redline 75w-90 (not the ns), as this contains the friction modifiers necessary for the LSD. If you are using a different fluid brand, just make sure it is formulated for LSD rear ends.

- 2 Crush washers for rear drain and fill plug
Part No:12157-10010 x 2

- 2 Crush washers for front drain and fill (larger copper washer is for front fill)
Part No: 12157-10010 x 1 and 90430-24003 (copper) x 1

-2 crush washers for transfer case drain and fill plug
Part no: 90430-18008 x 2

- 10mm hex head socket for front drain and fill plugs
- 24mm socket for rear drain and fill plugs and transfer case plugs
- Torque wrench to tighten plugs to spec.
- 12mm socket (with 3” extension) to remove lower skid plate (not shown)
- Oil hand pump (shown later in action)
- Optional: Jack, Rubber mallet

Denso 3381 Spark Plug

I would go with Royal Purple Gear Oil, and Motor Oil but thats just my preference. I've heard Redline is OK too, only known a couple people to use it as oil in their motorcycles. Mobil 1 used to be really great stuff, but they changed it. Also ever thought of a K&N drop in air filter?

Yeah I was considering getting these .

Cost is double though $11.95 but I might just pull the plug and get em.

NGK Iridium IX - LFR6AIX-11, these plugs tested at all in these Yota's

Why do the plugs have to be changed at 30K, I think my Altima service manual says 120K, I know it's an entirely different engine. But still 30K seems crazy, I know our Corolla has a higher interval too (Around 100K).

I'm assuming you have an automatic tranny. Yeah the WS ATF is spec'd as a lifetime fluid. I personally don't believe in this, so I did a drain & refill at 30K and plan to continue this interval. I think the capcity is 3.2 qts but I just rounded down to 3 qts. Haven't had any issues in the 7k miles since. Not hard to do as long as you don't bother with the level checking instructions in the FSM. Again, 3 qts and call it a day.

At my 30k I also did a quicky throttle body cleaning: stuffed a rag in to hold the butterfly open, sprayed it and scrubbed with a toothbrush. If you want to be thourough, you can take the unit off and go to town with the cleaner. I don't know how much this helped, if any but i think 30k is a good interval.

Also, I change my filters at around 15k or 1 year. This is based only on the visual cleanliness (or lack thereof).

Other than that, my 30k tuneup was the same as yours, with different part manufacturers and fluids of course.

EDIT: clean & adjust the rear brakes a good thing to do at 30k as well.

when draining both diffs and transfer case, you can reuse the stock bolts and washers cant you. i saw in the list something about the washers. im about to change the rear out and run fresh oil for a couple k miles before i run synthetic in everything. rear diff has been submerged several times and i have no rear diff mod yet so just want to be safe before running new oil.
