4 cyl. towing set up?

I've got an 08 standard cab 4cyl Tacoma with manual transmission. I'll be towing a bike trailer. It's a 3000 lb trailer, max.

A class three hitch is rated for 5000 lbs. With that engine and manual trans I don't think I could pull 5000 lbs.
Should I put a class three hitch on it anyway or look for a class two?
All of the sources I've checked only have class three hitches including the Toyota dealer.
I believe the bumper itself can handle up to 3500lbs. Does this sound right?

What is the simplest and least expensive way to stiffen up the back end for towing? springs, shocks, or added leafs?? That is, if I even need to.

Thanks!

Thats with the V6, the I4 is only rated to tow 3500lbs with or without the tow package.

None...no matter what the max rating that Toyota will give the 4 cyl is 3500lbs. You would be wasting your money, the small 4cyl engine just isn't powerful enough to tow more then that. It's not a matter of cooling or battery power.
