I have a 91 Corolla sedan, 4AFE. I can find a pacesetter header for it on ebay for about 150 shipped the cheapest.

I also see 4AFE headers for the 93+ Corollas on there cheap. Would the later model header fit? This is a picture of it...

Its being sold for $80 shipped which is half the price of the others. However the model specific ones do not show any pictures. Does anyone have any experiences with it?

bottom line? don't get a pacesetter header :)

they're horrible, I've seen on more than one occasion, people put them on their car and their power goes down. pace setter is the worst header you can buy period, you're better off with your stock manifold, at least it won't break.

367.000km and no cracks yet :D

And for the reacord, there is a difference between the AE92 and AE101 corolla 4A-FE headers (The euro corolla's anyway). The part where the header bolt up to the down pipe is turned 90 degrees. The AE92 has the 2 pipes in front of each other. In the AE101 the two pipes are side-by-side.

The AE101 headers are a lot better by the way. They're not casted but welded and the stock headers look a lot like spaghetti headers

The Corolla stock exhaust manifold is notorious for cracking.

I got an OBX headder for a '94 Corolla and installed it on a '92. To make it fit I had to have a muffler shop do a bit of custom work where it goes over the sub frame. Everything else fit fine.

I have a Pacesetter on my Tercel and quality-wise, it doesn't compare to the OBX. It is still holding together after 4 years, but I won't be buying any more Pacesetter stuff.

Has anyone heard of Mimousa for headers for the 88-92 4afe corolla's? I see them for sale each time i do a search and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them? How do they compare to OBX headers, they certainly seem more plentiful than the,

oh guys just replying to the page before i have 350456 kilometers on my 4afe engine and i have no cracks, oil leaks or anything i have replaced the rcoket cover seal once and have had a complete engine serveice done every 30000km ive had the car in the family for the last 7 years and now the car is mine, in the 7 years its done 165000 kms. dunno what that is in miles but the point is toyotas make strong long lasting engines.

4AFE = BULLET PROOF

dam you beat me? blof have you encountered any major hassles in your extra 17000km on me lol. i think its due for a gear box change,
i just got done with in the last 6 months: headers, full exhaust, clutch, machined rotors and bleed the brakes recently and i oil changes with oil filter every 4-6k kms.

my dad said he saw a 4afe corolla hatch for sale with 426000 kms on it she wanted $3000 proclaimign its a ladies car and perfect condition.

i wonder if she sold it??? or maybe the she added an extra zero by mistake.

haha yea well i've driven a corolla with over 350,000MILES to miami and back in one day... (don't ask why) and other than the non-existent muffler it was a champ

my buddy with an rb26(skyline motor) swapped into an s13 bought a Geo metro (3cyl 1liter:p) and now has a saab garret t25 installed after rebuilding...
Even he says to forget the 4age just because i can replace mine for like 60$ from a wrecker and there will be like 50 to choose from

the only 4age i've pulled from wrecker had golf-ball sized hole in block...

7-rib 4afe FTW

Are you really that un-informed?

the small internal 4afe shares internal sized with the early 4age, and the large internal 4afe shares internals with the later 4age.... the blocks are cast essentially the same....

the 4afe only "lasts" longer than a 4ag because the crank isn't balanced and Toyota set the limiter low on them..... (and yes, not balanced... which is why the 4age has a harmonic balancer and the 4ag has just a pulley)..... the 4ag's have an additional 1200 rpm's and higher compression.....

my old 4afe blew it's headgasket without losing coolant..... car had 130,000 on it.

my 4age which wasn't in good shape lasted 6 years with me beating on it before it developed a rod knock and threw a rod (yes, threw a rod... but try revving a 4afe to 7800 rpm's on average 5 times a day for 6 years on a completely stock LB... guessing it wouldn't last a month).

the 4afe and 4age both have the same weakpoint.... which is they tend to throw either #2 or #3 rods.......

4age FTW... more power, better built, just as good of gas mileage..... I will never go back to a 4afe..... only FE parts i'll be using in the future are 7afe block, crank and rods....

wow 350k miles wow. lol i took mine downt he cost ( i live in australia by the way) bout 200km each way and i was expecting soemthing to go wrong but no drove it back that night and followed it up with screeches and smoke through a local circuit :)

Also took it down a cruis that goes through sharp downhills corners. apart from the clutch smelling liek it was burning it handled great. JUST BOUGHT A SWAY 4AGE SWAY BAR ON EBAY yay sweet now it will handle like a go kart

ahhh pics finally

ok finally got camera and wouldn't u know it died on me but oh well i got most the pics i wanted to take heres a few...

keep in mind my car is hella slammed especially in front (like 1.5"diff) and also remember that these were like 70 dollars so the fact that the paint started to chip almost immediately doesn't suprise me...
get black headers for sure if you can

What brand headders are those?

From the angle of your lower control arms, I would guess you don't have mucn suspension travel left.

That is about how low the OBX that I put on my '92 Corolla was, and it got bruised on the flex pipe also after I turned into a badly rutted gravel driveway.

#28 ·
thats good to hear

about the suspension what did you mean??? why would i want a lot of travel???
i have the springs and height worked out so i'd say my stroke is 1-2in on moderate cornering and 2-3in hard cornering this is an approx but i believe it to be pretty close.

i've been adjusting my k-sports for about a year now daily driving and beating the dog-shit to test there durability. so far i'm very pleased

any more "suspension flex" and i'd be inducing body roll the low center of gravity helps a lot with keeping the car flat and help prevent tire sheer
i also run quite a bit of camber and toe BTW

also remember that my light ass car doesnt even flinch unless i'm really getting on it

stays very flat even when i drive on my 13"s w/ 175/70
