ok guys i am gonna go for the 4efte in my corolla. here are the million dollar questions

would i need the original engine mounts or would 4efe/efte mounts work fine?

is a hood scoop mandatory with since the inercooler is top mounted?

which axles would i need?

is there any other issues i would have to worry about as far as making this work?

ok guys, i WOULD go for the regular 4age swaps. but simple fact is i have a 3 spd auto in my ae101 not a 5 spd(if i had this the swap would have been done already). now i have looked from here(florida) to timbuktu for auto tranny and also auto ecu for the 20v or 4agze. i HAVE NEWER SEEN BOTH OF THOSE AVAILABLE and i don't have much time nor money nor facilities to do much custom work(wiring, programming etc....). there is a performance shop down in miami about 300 miles away that has the 4efte complete(engine, INTACT wiring harness/loom, axles, AUTO tranny, ecu, and mounts) for about 850 and only around 70 bucks frieght shipping(dropped off at my doorstep). this is honestly why i decided to go this route. so realistically i can throw this swap in for about 1100 bucks with a 90 day warranty on the engine. if anyone can find ANY reasons to object to this after reading the above facts. then please comment.

also please help with more info. VooDoo you said i need to do relocation of the mounts. so if i get the mounts that came with the engine it would not drop right in. how much work is contained in "relocating" the mounts???? chime in anyone. i can honestly see this swap done within a months time maybe sooner if this goes down smoothly.

the 3 engine supports should bolt up without a problem (using your existing ones). the one on the passenger side (assuming your car's LHD) needs to be moved. not sure about how USDM chassis are made but there should be 2 holes with a sheet metal cover a few inches forward of your existing ones. so it should be just a matter of drilling the holes with the right sized bit.

you might end up looking for more once you slap on the 4EFTE... so you'll probably end up boosting more. if you don't blow up the engine or turbine, i'm pretty sure the auto tranny will give in sooner or later. then you'll be screwed. i guess this is part of the reason why people are telling you to go with an A-series engine instead. tranny's are more readilly available. if not for the GE-specific tranny's, the FE ones will still bolt on fine. the only advantage of GE trannys would be their shorter gear ratios and the possibility of finding a tranny with an OEM LSD. personally, id go with a 7AGE conversion... then if money starts pouring in, upgrade to a 7AGTE with a 20V ST head. :D

meh i give up, since i got a really nice paying job am gonna just suck it up. drive around the econobox for a while till i get enough cash and just buy something worth modding up. am not forsaking toyota, but as far as performance goes my options down here are very limited. i'll probably go turbo integra/civic route.

If you're really serious about your Toyota.. you'll go with a 3SGTE swap. :)
