So, how exactly do I remove the spark plugs on a 5SFE? Let's just say i've been having an interesting time outside with them....

I did a search....do i need to remove the valve cover? Any quick write up DIY would be appreciated!

Remove the spark plug wires, (Make sure that the wire didn't break off on the plug) Insert 5/8" plug socket on extension, unscrew plugs, insert new plugs in to plug tubes, Hand tighten with extension, tighten 1/4 turn past hand tight with ratchet, reinstall plug wires.

are you familiar with the 5SFE??? the plugs are wayyyyyyy down below the valve cover. basically i got my 5/8 AND the extension for my socket set stuck down in the hole where you SHOULD be able to remove them (not stuck, more like, it fell in there, and i cant get it out.). it's just being a pain. help pleaseee.

what he said ^^

dont need to remove the valve cover, that wont give you any better access but it will give you a bigger mess  oh, and make sure you have a decent-sized extension for the 5/8" spark plug socket [make sure its a spark plug socket, not a regular deep socket] - i think i needed like a 4 or 6" extension w/ my ratchet

i tried a 3" extension and it wasnt long enough ... once i got the 5/8" socket seated on them, i only had to turn it a bit to get them out - they arent torqued down much, if you read the tq specs on the back of the box of new plugs it should tell you how to torque or hand-tighten them

thanks.... it just seems like the plugs are about 4 maybe 5 inches down in there...i got it loosened all the way, but i cant physically grab it and pull it out. maybe i'm just a little out of it today... :disappoin
