Hey guys, I just swapped my manual transmission into my 95 Camry. I had to use the automatic harness because I forgot to grab the under-dash harness from my 92 DLX 5-spd. Anyways, I bolted the NSS to the body, put it in park and it starts, runs and drives.
What the problem is, is that its missing really badly at low Throttle. I thought at first that maybe it was due to a dirty TPS because the engine sat for about 4 months. Before swapping in the engine/trans combo I replaced the oil pump, water pump, idlers, tensioners, springs, All Gaskets on the engine, flushed the oil, and transmission, put new main / rod bearings in the engine, re-ringed the engine. I know that there is no vacuum leaks because I sprayed starting fluid all over the injectors and vacuum lines and there was no idle change.
I remember reading somewhere that people were using resistor blocks when using automatic harnesses. Is that why they are doing that? I do notice that the O/D Light flashes after about 3 minutes of driving. At WOT there is no miss. Just when I slightly push the throttle in any gear.
I haven't really looked into it anymore than spraying starting fluid and cleaning the TPS. Anyone who has done the auto/manual swap I would like to know if you guys have had the same problem.. That way I can know if its due to using the automatic harness, or its something else that maybe I didnt hook up completely or something. :chug:
Thanks fellas (& Ladies),
MP
More information:
I also cleaned the Throttle body, and IACV Before installing the engine too. Pretty much everything I could change or clean I did before installing the engine
