A/C Bypass Belt for Rav 4

Just replaced the serpentine belt on my son's 2008 Rav 4 after his A/c compressor pulley fell off. Bypassed the pulley with smaller belt. He did not have the time or money to replace compressor. So we measured it up and bought a 625K7 Drive Rite (630K7) would be better fit. Works great, no issues.
Take off front wheel and component shield, align belt the same minus A/c pulley , use 14mm offset wrench on tension pulley clockwise, looped around alternator pulley on top once tension was off.
This was not for the faint at heart, plenty of light, 14mm small socket would not fit between engine comp. and tension bolt, used offset wrench from below with small pipe extension for torque, (terrible design of tension bolt placement), middle pulleys were torture, 2 man job with someone up top to place belt over alternator pulley and to help place belt around pulleys.
Again, 630K7 would have been a lot easier. That's a a 7 rib 63 inch belt vs. 62.5 inch belt.
Tied up the pulley on A/c to keep it from rattling, no getting it off.
Now he can save his money and get a new compressor next Spring.

Good info there! I added this to the sticky. No doubt this question will come up again.

Thanks. But 4 cyl or 6 cyl?

4cyl. I just used the 630K7 picked up at local AZ store (or any brand 63 inch 7 rib belt) to temporarily bypass the A/C for now on my 4cyl-06 Rav (Pulley broke off the compressor, original belt also broke). The 630K7 works great for the bypass. No a/c for now (expensive fix) but the vehicle runs well. Thank you trilo2 for the info.

Thank you much.

I just did this today for a customer with a 2009 RAV4 with the 2AZ engine. I however used a 6PK980 belt to bypass the faulty AC compressor having removed it.
No power steering pump either.
I agree that the tension bolt location was made without consideration for the enthusiast mechanic.
