ABS Light, But No Codes from Scanner!

ABS system is NOT accessible through OBDII port on this generation Camrys, not even with factory TIS cable and software. Not possible - there is no wire connecting ABS and OBDII. You would need to connect to either of the diagnostic ports (under steering wheel or under hood, NOT obdII) with the appropriate scanner to read codes.

Easiest is to short E1 to Tc pins in the "DIAGNOSTIC" port under the hood, on the passenger side by the firewall, and then the ABS light will blink the code number for you. (long blinks for 10's, short blink for 1's - 2 long blinks followed by 3 short blinks is 23)

Also, keep in mind that the codes will be different depending on whether you have the Bosch made or Denso made (under license from Bosch) ABS system. You need to know which one you have and read the corresponding code table.

Yes, it is a pain in the ass, I agree. Leaned it the hard way myself, too.
This is true.

When I was trying to find out the clicking noise in my friends 1997 Camry, I had the front wheels up and spinning and rears on the ground. When moving 15+ mph, it triggered the ABS light. I had to clear it out via pin method and pulled codes via pin metod.
