So i got my car lowered on some Tein solara springs last week and got my car aligned right afterwards at firestone. I got the lifetime alignment deal they had and got the car aligned. After the first alignment the steering was pulling to the left a good amount to where its gets really annoying. The following day i went to a local firestone and had the car re-aligned and they still couldnt fully fix the steering pull but it was a lot better this time but still a little bit off. Is there a reason why they cant fully align my steering?

Here is the sheet i got from them:

I had the same problem with my car after i got it lowered on TRD springs.... my tow in the back was off andTtoyota told me they were going to order some bolts. Let me talk to the tech who did the work and see if i can get a better answer.

I feel your pain

my toe is fine. its just that my local firestone said that since my lowered they cant fully center my steering which i think is bs. ill be going to a diffeernt firestone later today and ill let you guys know how it goes.

yea, dont really understand why they cant or whats causing it so i dont know what to mess with to try to fix it. Its not a huge pull, just very slight but it kinda gets annoying.

so i went to another firestone and they explained to me that the rear right is off and could be causing the slight pull to the left. They said i might have a bad strut or bent strut. Could this be true?

I had my car lowered on TRD Spring, and my dealer did an alignment after that too. They claimed that they couldn't get the figures exactly in place, but all of them were within specific range, which is acceptable. I think you should try to get all of the numbers within their acceptable range (try a different store, maybe).

PS: For the struts, find a reliable shop to inspect them.

i had my car aligned at the dealer after i got my H&R springs installed and they said they will try their best to get it closest to the figures because since its after market springs they can't align it to the original specs. For my car to drive straight i have to have the steering wheel tilted to the right side a little so my steering wheel doesn't sit center either, it doesn't really bother me though my car doesn't seem to pull.

Dealerships and firestones can't or don't know how to deal with lowered cars for the most part. Go to a reputable shop that does, and you'll see much better results.

My local tire/alignment shop has no problem centering my steering every time i lower my car back down for the summer. Their alignment software also adjusts the specs from stock for lowered cars. A page on their website on alignment: http://www.advancedtireauto.com/wheelalign.htm

alright, will do. thats what i was planning anyways after a couple weeks. Would it really affect the steering issue even though it hasnt settled all the way?

v6 is heavier.

So i gave firestone a call and they said the specs for a i4 and v6 are the same..so im guessing something went wrong when i was installing the springs.

My dealer said the same thing. They said that after installing the TRD springs, I had to do the alignment right away, but I don't need to redo it later. However, I did an alignment again after 9 months, and the result, compared to the previous one, was not different.

They probably did something else after the installation for the springs to settle down right away, didn't they?

So should i still try to tackle the steering pull or just deal with it? If i end up with coilovers in the future will the steering pull still occur?

How bad is it? I'd say go try fix it until you get the best result and if you get coils then you're gonna need alignment again.

"The Gen 6 Camry is known to pull to the left" -> If so, my Camry must be a defective unit because my car keeps going straight if I keep my steering wheel straight. :-(

Yes it's defective. lol

It shouldn't be that bad!!! It's not like when u let go of the wheel you're drifting into the other lane immediately. It's just VERY slightly, u won't even notice it under normal driving cause sometimes the road may cause your car to pull.

I got it realigned again today at another shop, its better than last time. barely a pulls now. Just gonna deal with it until i get coilovers whenever that will be. Thanks guys for your input and help.

sorry to bring this back up, but better than making a new post.
I got H&R Lowering Springs installed almost 2 weeks ago and ever since then its been pulling to the left, so I figured the alignment would fix it. So I finally got it aligned today, and they fixed the toe, and the front right had -2, and the front left had -1, so they said by evening out the right side camber to make it -1 would solve the problem. However it didn't, still pulls to the left, maybe a little less than before but if I let go of the wheel while going 50mph+ I will be in the next lane in around 5 seconds.

So should I go back to the shop and let them look at it again, take it to the dealer and see what they have to say, or the last resort of just sucking it up and living with it.

Here's the specs:

I'm having a similar issue my car is pulling to the right after my alignment. Take it back and let them do it. That is what you paid for. Unless they are going to refund you the money for not fixing the problem dont take it to the dealership.

Did you need new camber bolts?

When I did my TRD drop, I had to get new camber bolts.

Really? all it took was just twisting the lower control arm? I got the lifetime firestone alignment deal and i went to 3 different firestones and they can't seem to fix the problem. It still pulls to the left a tiny bit but since then ive gotten use to it. I should get an alignment again and tell them about it.

yeah there's a bolt you twist to adjust the toe.
but i'm not 100% sure if that's the case for your suspension.

theres 2 bars that go out of the picture from the bottom right area, 1 of them is what you twist.

i'll post a picture tomorrow or in a few days when I take off my wheels to do some cleaning.
but my friend who's a tech for BMW told me, and since I got the alignment a few weeks ago,
the clean thread was showing from when they adjusted it, cause my car pulled to the left too from when me and mingming messed around with one of my coilovers lol, so i knew that they adjusted that arm + my friend confirmed.

but even then i dont know which way to twist it to correct your problem.
ugh wish you can just tell firestone to align to oem spec or something, or fix the steering rack/column.

best of luck man let us know how/when/if you get it fixed :chug:

Not sure why you needed camber bolts lol I went through 2 springs and a set of coilovers, without changing the bolts.

everyone usually needs alignment (electronically) after the spring swap anyway, because they do everything by eyeball but you can't eyeball a few things such as how many threads are left on the camber bolt.

what kind of camber bolt did you get?
I had to get a smaller diameter bolt to help create more play because they couldn't get the stock camber bolt in. It just made it easier to adjust camber on the car. My brother and the master tech at toyota did all the work on it lol:lol:
