Get a 9005 bulb and a pair of nail clippers, it'll do wonders for your light output without glare. I've written up the procedure at least twice before, try a search.

 

Wouldn't that melt the wiring harness?

 

Toyota used the same gauge of wire for the 9005/9006 harnesses...I think it's 55 versus 65 watts, not that much overage. I ran that way for several tens of thousands of miles without issue. You do go through bulbs a little bit quicker as the 9005s aren't rated for as much life, but it's a lot cheaper than going for some froufrou bulbs. Hell, you can get away with 9011 HIRs in the lowbeam sockets, but for the money, 9005s are the best shine for the buck.

 

On my Hyundai, i changed for 'Eurolight' brand sold at my local Canadian Tire (don't know the equivalence in U.S.), but i paid 30$ cdn for my H1 bulbs (55w), and it's almost as bright as those on Volvo.
They claimed to be more than 50% brighter, and it's true !

I have had the Extremes for like 10k miles now. Brighter than regular bulbs for sure. My brother thought I had brights on LOL

 

No prob. 9005 output is about the best you can do (cheaply) without HID retrofitting, rebased bulbs, overwattage designs, H4 conversions, or pricy HIRs.
