Well Apparently Toyota has not corrected the issue wit hthe 2GR and the Bank 1 VVTi Oil Line Leaking Issue.

Ever since I got my 07 Tl Type-S my wife has been driving the camry... so I haven't really driven it much for the last 10k or so! ... lon story short ... last week I noticed a pool of oil under the camry in my driveway. I checked the dipstick, and to my surprise, the stick was DRY!!!

I added some oil (5 qts to be exact!!!) and took the car to the dealer immediately. It appears that the leak was comming from the Bank 1 VVti Oil Line. My camry has 51k on it now, and thank god this was covered under the 60k powertrain factory warranty or I would have been pissed!

Just BEWARE ... keep an eye on your V6 camrys fellas ... since the TSB was issues on the 05 Avalon in November 2005 ... this has been an ongoing issue that Toyota has apparently been keeping hush hush! It seems to be happening from my research on vehicles with the 2GR between 45k to 65k miles ... check the rubber hose going to Bank 1 VVTi Oil Line ... where the metal line meets the rubber hose .... apparently the metal clamp wears through the rubber hose over time .... this friction causes a pinhole in the rubber line (in my case a much larger hole) causing you to loose a significant amount of oil. ... if not caught in time ... have fun trying to get that repaired under warranty!!!

Does having a Fujita Cold Air Intake cancel out my warranty x_x

Oh well maybe when the time comes, Ill just swap it out with the stock one...even though my ECU will be like wtf?

the issue has not been fixed, as we are still doing a crapload of these jobs at the toyota dealer i work for...in some parts of the country the part (VVTi oil line) is even backordered!
keep an eye on your oil level everyone! not that you shouldent already be checking your fluids regularly!

remember, fail to prepare, prepare to fail!

Can you ask what happens when you have a Fujita CAI installed? I have the warranty...

Noticed a little puddle size a a couple of quarters ... check levels and it was good ... went around town ... did a few errands and came back .... checked again, and level wouldn't show on the stick. Had to add almost 5qt. to get it to proper level ... then went immediately to the dealer!

2005 Avalon 2GE-FE: EG064-05 Toyota TSB

This TSB applies to the 2005 Avalon 2GR-FE V6 (Same engine as our Camry)

You can see the Bank 1 VVTi Oil Line and the location of the leak ... which for me was right near the foam insulation which acts like a sponge and holds a shitload of oil. If yours starts to develop this leak ... put your finger in there right by the foam insulation, if you pull your finger out and it is soaked with oil ... the Bank 1 VVTi Oil Line is your culprit.

for a 16yr old kid, youre smart and you post maturely sir. i respect that!
the 2az is all of the above, but it is still a great engine...my car isnt at all fast but it moves enough to get out of its own way, and it is one noisy SOB.

Cking, To my knowlege most dealers wont care about the intake, i know mine doesnt because ive done warranty work on a tundra that exhaust/intake and neither were TRD.
if you feel unsure, pop the oem airbox back in...it doesnt take much time and its easy to bolt on and off

Awesome! Ill just have to remember in a few years to beware of puddles under the engine at 45k miles...
Thanks

Interesting find. I usually check my dipstick once a month, and I don't ever recall it being bone dry. So in that regard I might be lucky, but if this problem is well documented (first time I've heard about it), then I should have purchased the factory extended warranty before my bumper to bumper expired.

After reading all these posts, about the oil line leak ,I will be sure to check daily. If it happens spontaneously and the engine is damaged I will sue Toyota for a design flaw.

Damn....Ive noticed a small oil stain in my garage and the camry is the only car that parks inside. Might have to check that foam insulation then. I wonder if this applies to my 08 HL with the 2GR? Camry has 21K and HL has 2K.

What is the TSB that applies to the 2007 Camry SE V6 concerning this issue?
(sorry if somebody already said what it is during the previous posts, I didn't catch it)
Thanks, Ed
