I'm not a pro on batteries and electrical... but don't all car batteries have the same 12v rating? Pardon me if i'm wrong...but as long as it's a battery that will fit in your engine bay, does it really matter what kind or what brand? i don't think i've ever seen a car battery that was other than 12V. well....thats what i'm thinking, yeah.

there is definitely a difference between a $120 ac delco, interstate, optima battery and a $40 battery from kragen. They are not just fooling around with you with the price. A better battery will have better CCA, or cold cranking amps. The colder the weather, the more CCA you need or your car will have a hard time starting or not starting at all. Also, a more expensive battery have better warranties, thus it generally will last longer than a el cheapo battery.

 

and all car batteries are 12v, cause everything is 12v in general in a car. well, except light bulbs...

 

if you plan to get more into car audio get a yellowtop or oddessy battery
otherwise just get a sears one. this is a good chance to get a nice deep cycle

Honiestly, I think optima is overrated. I have a Interstate battery with my system and amp wired at 2ohms with 4 gauge wires running about 200rms with alot of electricial stuff. I think Stinger makes very good batterys for audio equipment. Interstate and optima are about in the same league when it comes to battery just that optima is sealed so you can mount it upsidedown, thats what makes optima batterys cost more than interstate.

 

^ agreed. I'd suggest an Interstate Mega-Tron Plus Part #: MTP-24F. Solid battery with a great warranty.

Unless you need to mount your battery upside down or run auxillary stuff (ie. stereo, lights) that would drain the battery, a sealed battery like a Red Top or a deep cycling Yellow Top isn't necessary.

btw- Interstate makes Optimas.

 

ya i think i dont need a red top, so an interstate battery is a good choice to go with then? what about AC Delco top of the line?

 

AFIK , the battery just starts the car and the alternator take over... if althernator can't produce enough volts it goes after the battery
