Nice upgrade, congrats! Just a word of advice about tinted taillights- sometimes, if you're rear ended, you can be found at fault for the accident due to low visibility. Not always, but sometimes. So make sure the tint doesn't hinder the lighting output by too much, to be on the safe side!

 

Absolutely! That was my biggest fear in the Cruze especially during the winter as I only plastidip smoked them (and looked horrible). This time around I’m trying to find presmoked taillights that are DOT approved that way if I do get rear ended Atleast I’m covering my ass. Thanks for the fair warning though!

 

They aren't super-dark, but it's quite noticeable in person. 2021 on the right.

Oh I see. That’s cool! One less mod I need to think about. Maybe it’s so light because Toyota wanted the look without making it dangerous in the process.

 

It looks like Toyota darkened the red area inside the light and didn't actually darken the lens, so these are probably just about the same as the 18-20 lights.

The dark tint that you see on people's taillights (and headlights) is illegal.

The XSE is supposed to have smoked headlights too but I don't see any difference.
