i have the 50 series delta flow on my truck, and ive heard tons on sound bites of others with the same nice deep sound. For some reason it dont sound like the others, its raspy and sounds hollow. Ive had flows before so i know there sound. Would goin to 2.5 inch or 3 inch after muffler help the sound alittle or is it a waste of time?????? Or could somethin be wrong w the muffler, cause its dead silent at idle as well. Dont be too hard on me.. lol

re: bigger pipe after muffler

Whenever you increase the size of pipe, no matter where in the exhaust, you will increase flow. However, there is no point in increasing the size of the pipe after the muffler if you are not going to increase whatever is in FRONT of the pipe. Sounds contradictory, but it makes sense. Increasing the diameter of the tail-pipe will make very little or no difference to the sound of your exhaust. Your best best is to have your muffler shop install a cat back, but since you already have the new muffler, have them increase the size of pipe between your CAT and the muffler. Better yet, if you can, get a high-flow, 50-state legal CAT. If you're REALLY lucky, and live in Alberta Canada, get rid of the CAT altogether.

I think it's pretty rare for a muffler to be deffective.

If you increase pipe size, you may in reality decrease flow, and decrease low end torque. As you increase pipe size the exhaust gases cool too soon and do not move out of the pipe quickly enough at normal driving RPM's. At high RPM's the gases are able to move freely out of the exhaust, and this is why you feel more pull in the higher rev's with a larger pipe.
So pipe size becomes a trade off, and it depends on what you prefer.

THANKS FOR THE REPLYS, IM WAITING TO HEAR W THE GLASSPACK. aND ILL PROB GO TO MY MUFFLER SHOP AND GET SOME IDEAS. I BELIEVE FLUX SAID IT GETS LOUDER WITH TIME ABOUT 1000 MILES OR SO, IVE GOT BOUT 600 WITH THE MUFFLER AND NO CHANGE YET.. I GUESS ILL GIVE IT A BIT MORE TIME AND MAYBE DO A CATBACK WITH 2.5 INCH PIPING, IF IT DONT GET LOUDER AND MORE TONE. AS FOR TAKIN OUT THE RESONATERS IT WOULD PROB NOT PASS INSPECTION IN NYS, THEY ARE TOUGH WITH THAT STUFF, AND DONT WANT TO MESS W THE CAT.

I used to have a 94 gmc sonoma with the v6 and I have a dynomax muffler, $50 straight from advance discount auto, and it truely sounded like I had a v8. I even had a few people ask me if it was v8, because of the low tone. I've been thinking here lately about getting one again.
