Broken Visor Clip - Can't Find Replacement Parts or Part Number Online

'04 Corolla with a broken visor clip. It's the clip that goes inside the body of the car that the two screws that hold the visor get turned into. The clip has broken and I have since removed it from the car, trying to fix it, but wound up destroying it worse in the process.

It's a black metal spring metal clip. I think in the '05 models they changed to something else from what I see online.

Anyone have any suggestions on this? I can't find the part number on any website. I was worried I'd have to buy a whole new visor assembly, and maybe it's prescrewed into this and I just pressure fit the whole thing in, but new visor assemblies appear to just have the two holes for the screws. Thank you in advance.

Sorry but by "retainer clip" are you referring to this piece itself, or to something else?

I wasn't able to remove this clip in a non-destructive way so even if I found another car that has it, I dont think I can remove it from that car.

I do still have this clip, it's mangled now, it's cheap metal, I could unbend it, I suppose and attempt to modify it back into some working condition. I believe the screw holes got stripped out over time. I think the weight of the visor caused the holes to widen over time. I tried JB weld but it wasn't enough. I could ask a friend who welds if he can weld some piece of metal to it that I could drill into to secure new screws. I suspect it would just melt this thin spring steel.

I think newer Corollas have some different visor clip structure, I'm not sure if it they'd be backwards compatible with this. I just have a hole in my car there now where the bracket used to be.

So I think I may have misunderstood your question. You're talking about the exact black metal piece shown in the photo, and not the plastic trim piece on the visor which is what one sees after it's installed? If so, is the photo of the other side, or is the photo before you removed the retainer? I ask because you said you removed it and damaged it, but the one in the photo looks fine. I don't think a new visor (yes, they ARE available) would have that retaining clip (or whatever it's called). I don't see that on the Toyota parts listing either, so yeah.....get one from the junkyard.

There's a trick to removing it. Looks like you have to slide it down/up and from side to side and pivot the tabs inside. Based on an experience I had with the rear latch on a Honda tailgate, there was something kinda similar to that, and I discovered it was welded into place on the back side (inside that cavity). I had to drill it out and then replace it with one which I epoxy-glued in place on the back/inside instead of welding.
