I am looking to buy a used corolla between 2007-2009 and was wondering about the main differences between the 2 generations, and anything to look for or to stay away from.
Thanks Bill

Don't automatically eliminate buying new. As a long time used car buyer (I normally buy used from private parties), back in February I was also looking at 2 to 3 year old Corollas and decided for comparison sake, to send out email messages to several dozen new car dealers, both in state and surrounding states, for their best price on a new 2010 LE. As it turns out, I eneded up buying a new 2010 LE for about the same or less than most of the used ones I was looking at. There are a few dealers that are very hungry for every sale they can get, and the internet makes it easier than ever to find them.

The 10thGen

- More interior space
- Larger trunk
- More power
- More standard features
- Larger Body
- Telescopic wheel
- Remote trunk release
- Axillary port

- The list can go on...

2007 & 2008 are the 9thGen and 2009 is the 10thGen.

I'd definitely recommend the 10thGen over the 9thGen because its newer, has more features, and I like the styling better. :D

I'll second what blb said, don't totally reject the idea of buying new.
I was looking for a good used car to begin with. With the high gas prices, anything around here with a 4 cylinder engine and good gas mileage has experienced a huge jump in prices on used cars. When it was all said and done, it wasn't much more to buy a new Corolla verses the price of a newer used car with over 30,000 miles already on it.
I was totally shocked by what used, good gas mileage cars were going for around here, it was crazy!
