buzzing/whining in dash at high speed??

I bought a certified pre-owned 2008 corolla LE. I didn't realize until a recent road trip that when I'm out on the highway and I get up to about 75 mph the car starts making a high pitched whining noise that comes from the dashboard. it varies a little at which speed this noise will start happening...usually about 75, sometimes I can cruise at 80 without it but above 82-83 it is certain to make the noise. The pitch of the noise will also change a little as I go faster and it also seems to change in the location from which it occurs in the dash as I go faster (ie- when it starts it seems to come from the center of the dash but if I push it to say 90mph its origin seems to move closer to the driver's side).

I took my car to the dealership where it was purchased and their service department told me they can't really do anything about it because they can't drive it at such a high speed to test it. They didn't really have any helpful suggestions either.

Please let me know if you have had a similar problem or if you have any recommendations.

Thanks

Ben

JasonA is correct.

One of our corollas had the exact same issue.
We brought it into the dealer and they repaired the problem by replacing the windsheild seals, which completely solved the problem.
This was all done under warrenty as it is a commonly known issue covered by Toyota.

i had/have the same problem. the only difference is i dont necesarily feel like it gets closer the faster i go.

i also have a crack in the bumper on the front right. which i think is possibly the source.
everything else is about the same. it doesnt ALWAYS happen for me. its random it seems.

do you have any body damage? possibly somewhere where the wind could tunnel in..

there always a thread going before, i fixed the bizzing noise by reseal the windshield. just think about how machine seal your windshield start at the centre of the windshield start at your rear mirror, and did a circle and at the end there just little gap between the start and the end. that is where the noise come from. I took a video on the noise and you will see is the same issue of yours or not.

the following link is the solution i post at the other thread.

you are funny, only cost you $10-$20 at the auto glass shop to fix it, but you like to suffer with the shape noise into your ear?:headbang:

On my 2000 Avalon, the chrome molding around the windshield is covered by a thin piece of clear plastic, which is normally invisible. With age and weather, the plastic had started to unseal itself from the chrome. Consequently at speeds from 35 mph and higher I would get the noise from a buzzing sound at lower speeds to an occasional squealing sound at higher speeds.
To solve the problem, I lifted the unsealed plastic, getting under it with a toothpick, then I took a tube of super glue with a pointed nozzle and glued the plastic to the chrome. Voila! No more noises.
Hope this helps someone else, since it does tend to be very annoying and disconcerting.
